The rich-in-content Farrey catches you with complete surprise as it explores the dark side of greed convincingly Smart storytelling, several nail-biting moments and inspiring performances are its biggest strengths. RECOMMENDED. Before I conclude, I must add, it deserved a catchy, easy-to-comprehend title Also, a better release date was the need of the hour: the arrival of Animal and SamBahadur next Friday will curtail its prospects.

On the whole, Farrey is a well-made and engaging film but if it still does not get the box-office numbers, it will be because of gross lack of promotion of a new star cast film, a difficult title (which is understood mainly in North India only) and a screenplay which leaves some important questions unanswered (as mentioned above).

Director Soumendra Padhi, previously known for his notable work on the Netflix hit series Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega and the National Award-winning film Budhia Singh – Born to Run, demonstrates his exceptional suitability for this film. Though mostly effective in keeping the audience on the edge of their seats, with a few twists thrown in, Farrey lacks some key details that would have made the whole scam, plotted by a bunch of desperate teenagers, more believable. In the absence of these details, certain scenes appear unrealistic, even vague. The clash of two disparate worlds €” that of super rich and poor students €” is meant to deliver a gut punch. It fails to do so as the film holds itself back from digging deeper into the massive gulf between these two sections of the society and the transactional nature of these classmates friendship. Ethics can be fluid. This should have been examined in this drama where the poor and rich become frenemies.

Alizeh Agnihotri makes a strong debut as a spunky topper. Shes convincing in her role as a bright, cheeky, yet reckless girl. Sahil Mehta effortlessly pulls off his complicated character arc. Prasanna Bisht and Zeyn Shaw stand their might as manipulative teenagers. Ronit Bose Roy and Juhi Babbar as the orphanages wardens and loving parent figures shine in their roles.Despite some loose ends, Farrey is a compelling watch that will keep you entertained throughout. As it resonates with energetic performances, with her impressive debut, Alizeh Agnihotri is someone to watch out for!

Thanks to social media, the narrative surrounding the launch of a star kid, especially in a film produced and presented by their family, rarely leads to anticipation. Nepotism has become a big bad word. But is it fair to not give a talent a chance to prove their merit and worth? Perhaps not and you will realise the same if you give Farrey a chance. The film marks the launch vehicle of Alizeh Agnihotri and is co-produced by her father Atul Agnihotris Reel Life Production Pvt Ltd and presented by her superstar uncle Salman Khan under the banner of Salman Khan Films. Keep all your biases aside and Farrey might just become one of the freshest and most novel films of the year.
