If you’re a Panchayat loyalist, you’ll stand by the cast and crew till the eighth and final episode, which is setting up the show for another season. If you’re just another Prime Video subscriber who has tuned in to the show as it was #trending on social media, you’ll maybe have a different tale to tell. That’s what perhaps the makers are also saying to the show’s admirers as they set Panchayat for season five, which will mark another chapter in the politics of Phulera.

Despite the shortcomings, Special Ops 2 is a well-structured web series that does not disappoint and succumbs to the pressure of a sequel. Neeraj Pandey does what he knows best – carving out a great thriller yet again! Hopefully, the threequel would be killer!

‘Special Ops 2’ isn’t perfect, but it’s still a gripping, relevant, and often thrilling ride. The show leans into a more tech-driven narrative without losing the human drama that made the earlier seasons click. If you’ve never seen a single episode of the series, it may be a bit confusing to dive in. There is a lot of lore about the legendary Himmat Singh, and viewers who have seen the previous season and its origin series will benefit from having that additional info. Fans of the show will fare better, but even with seven episodes, this season is like a whirlwind. The strength of the show lies in Himmat Singh and his superhuman agents, and how the team finally arrives to save the day; there’s less of that this time.

I don’t think there’s any actor who mouths the C word as fluently and fascinatingly as Menon, first in Black Friday and now in Special Ops 2. And it’s always good to see Vinay Pathak in anything he does. What’s also striking about the show is the colourful outfits Tahir Bhasin flaunts, reminding you of the perennially iconic Ajit Khan. Neeraj Pandey lost track with his last experiment. With this, he almost gets his groove back. That’s truly Special!
