A visual spectacle… Desi-at-heart content… Impactful voiceovers [SRK specifically]… Pacing and songs dilute the impact… Watch it on the biggest screen possible. On the flip side, the pacing dips intermittently, while the songs contribute precious little to the goings-on.

Barry Jenkins’ direction is quite nice, but it must be added that he has not been able to make a film that would make it a memorable experience for the viewers. On the whole, Mufasa: The Lion King is a fair entertainer and will do average to good-average business at the ticket windows. But it can’t be expected to have a dream run at the box-office.

As this particular circle completes its life, what you are left yearning for is that knot that it promised to unravel — the story of Scar — but finally shies away from doing. A cold, cold Kiros croons: “Circle of Life is a lie, a pretty way of saying there are predators and prey.” Mufasa: The Lion King, where nary a drop of blood is spilled, ultimately chooses that too — the pretty way.

The plot of Mufasa looks like a typical Bollywood plot from the 80s and 90s. However, the astounding visuals give you an immersive experience. For me, the biggest letdown of the film is that it just brushes through the characters without exploring the emotional dynamics and depth. On the whole, Mufasa is a one-time watch only if you don’t compare it with its sequel. For the unversed, Shah Rukh Khan voices the Hindi version of Mufasa: The Lion King

The Lion King has had its own rich legacy over decades. Mufasa takes it forward in a different format. Though it doesn’t soar as high as the previous one, the film has its own moments that are best enjoyed on the big screen.

Mufasa: The Lion King is a visual treat that immerses audiences in a beautifully rendered world. Its stunning CGI, aesthetic appeal, and engaging performances captivate, and make for an experience worth having on the big screen.

When it comes to musicals, no one does it like Bollywood. Disney India has successfully infused this international film with a distinctly desi flavour, making it an even more enjoyable experience than the English version. Mufasa in Hindi is a must-watch, with its vibrant, family-centric storytelling, strong performances, and unforgettable music.
