Dhanush, of course, is the life of the film. The role is tailor-made for him and though we have seen him deliver similar characters in his earlier films too, he is undoubtedly a wonderful entertainer. He proves that he is a mass hero, entertaining with his flawless comic timing and dialogue delivery. There is not much menace in the bad guys and Dhanush outwits them easily, taking away some of the fun. But the film is without doubt a credit to both Dhanush, as well as ace cinematographer-turned-director Velraj. Velaiyilla Pattadhaari is two hours of pure entertainment, definitely worth a watch.

So, our message is clear. Watch VIP within the next few days in theaters when they will be brimming to their capacities and the atmosphere ought to be carnival-like. It entertains in a big way and Dhanush fans couldn’t have asked for a better treat from their star. That said, the team has taken cinematic liberties generously in their quest to present a ‘paisavasool’ star-vehicle. Verdict: A completely crowd pleasing silver-jubilee outing for Dhanush

The first half is vintage Dhanush all the way. In fact, the film in itself feels like a one-man show towards the end. The interval twist is one of the most clichéd scenes in the history of Tamil cinema. After that, the screenplay is a given. you can’t help but draw comparisons between Prakash Raj and Dhanush in Thiruvilaiyaadal Aarambam. It’s like watching an extended version of the film. The second half concentrates too much in fortifying Dhanush’s image and compromises on quality of the screenplay. On the whole, Velai Illa Pattadhari is a sumptuous treat for Dhanush fans. For others, it’s certainly worth while it lasts.

Velraj as a director has been overparticular to bring out a convincing mass entertainer, losing track in the process. Though he must be appreciated for his sharp dialogues which are well etched with facts and figures, the treatment of the script isn’t mature, things unfold onscreen just as how you have them worked out in your head. VIP ends up fetching all essentials of an entertainer, just that it fails to have them in the right proportions. It will be a party for Dhanush’s fanbase, but not everyone can dance there. Right? Verdict : Customary entertainer which sparkles here and there but misses out on the final connect.

We all have a lot of dreams. The most vivid of them all is the dream of growing up and being responsible, and most importantly, go to job. It has always been a childhood fantasy for all of us to go to office like our parents. What if this dream is snatched away from a graduate? Blame it on recession and IT boom, most engineering graduates fall prey to well paying jobs, whether or not it has been their specialisation. But those who stick to their dreams are certainly in for a tough time. Most youth of today is stuck in this rigmarole of resultant unemployment. No amount of talent stands them out in the rush for money. Though quite a subtle ongoing, this bout of unemployment has been a growing mushroom, killing talent in the process. Velraj debuts right on time, throwing light on this pressing issue, in a movie that’s sure to touch all hearts.
