Naan Sigappu Manithan Tamil Movie Review

Ratings:3/5 Review By: S Saraswathi Site: Rediff

The subject has been well researched and interpreted without being overly sensational or melodramatic. The second half, however, does meander quite a bit before getting back on track. Naan Sigappu Manithan is a riveting revenge drama with an honest narrative, excellent performances and many entertaining twists and turns.

Naan Sigappu Manithan is essentially a revenge drama where the hero is required to overcome his own problems first before he could set out to settle scores. Thiru’s screenplay is mostly well intended as he successfully draws the audience into Indran’s world and outlines the map for a gripping drama in the second half. Despite minor moments where the script deviates from its USP, Naan Sigappu Manithan pulls through as a pretty tense drama that ticks the commercial requirements.

Through the first sequences we look for a solid finish; however the end note leaves you with a feel of an average revenge movie. The second half is placed with unconvincing twists that doesn’t seem to fill the gaps and with a first half that races through entertainment quotient, stops still and deviates from the main plot itself. The screenplay drags away even though there is enough suspense in the store for a good thriller movie.  That said, if variety is your cup of tea, this might be your Saturday entertainer. Verdict: A fair entertainer that loses the steam through the second half

Vishal’s revenge taking part forms the interesting part of Naan Sigappu Manithan. How Indran fights against them and does he get justice have to been seen on-screen.The first half of Naan Sigappu Manithan is well written and keep you hooked to your seats. There are enough comedy scenes to break your funny bones. The second half manages to retain the momentum that the film got in the first half. But there are some boring moments in the second half.Naan Sigappu Manithan is edge-of-the-seat entertainer. This will be a perfect commercial film for all classes.

Ratings:Engrossing Entertainer Review By: MovieBuzz  Site: Sify

The first half is interesting with the introduction of Indran (Vishal) and establishment of a boy suffering from Narcolepsy from childhood. It is a rare neurological disorder that affects the control of sleep and the hero falls asleep at any point of time when he experience any extreme form of excitement or emotion. While the first half of the film is crisp with some light funny moments the rape scene and the disturbing flashback in the second half is hard to digest. Thiru is able to make an engrossing actor driven entertainer without any super hero gimmicks. NSM is an gripping entertainer which is not run-of-the-mill.

The biggest asset of NSM is Thiru’s screenplay which keeps you engaged till the very last frame. Though the film does take a plunge when it comes to mentalities in the second half, it never loses grip over the main quotient. With a little more care in the second half, NSM could have scaled a greater height. Nevertheless, it is a saleable commercial thriller with all the elements you’d ask for, backed by a promising screenplay. NSM is a career boost for Vishal, and undoubtedly Thiru’s best till date. Go book your tickets, you won’t be disappointed. And I’m not lying. Verdict : Vishal sleeps, you wont!
