The Housefull franchise returns with a bang – this time, it’s bigger, louder, and crazier… A paisa-vasool entertainer with madness, a thrilling climax, and mass-moments galore. In a film like Housefull5, logic takes a backseat… The key is to surrender yourself to the craziness and enjoy the rollercoaster ride.

On the whole, Housefull 5 is an average entertainer. Among its plus points are the comedy, excellent dialogues, very good performances and the Laal paree song. As for the minus points, besides its inherent drawbacks, as mentioned above, it has two other negative points which have nothing to do with the content — its very high cost and its weak start today. It will do ordinary business which will not be considered good enough for the franchise value… The film has two endings. In other words, there are some differences in content in the two versions but only in the last 20-25 minutes of the film.

Housefull franchise‘s existence is rooted in slapstick comedy, so you walk in knowing what to expect. Akshay Kumar slapping CGI monkeys, girls blatantly objectified and Riteish Deshmukh gobbling a parrot as annoying as the one in ‘Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon’, don’t surprise you.The film has two climaxes 5A and 5B, both versions have different killers, while rest stays the same. Won’t make much of a difference which version you choose but if you must, go for 5A.

If only Housefull 5 wasn’t so full of unalloyed bilge, it would not have come across as the kind of unbridled celebration of the ludicrous that it does. Let us make no bones: we did not sign up for this. Housefull 5 – this critic has watched only one of the two versions out in the multiplexes – is a defiantly flaky comedy that is undermined by hopelessly flaccid plotting.

‘Housefull 5’ is not even a family-friendly film, with its ‘6 and 9’ jokes, and a long scene focussing on nothing but the glistening frames of the three leading ladies – Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa and Nargis Fakhri. Soundarya Sharma, making her big-screen debut, is reduced to a cardboard cutout meant purely to satisfy the male gaze.

Talking about performances, it will be an understatement to say that overacting is the norm throughout the film. Right from the dialogue deliveries to situational comedies, everything looks forced. Imagine having a plethora of talent in your movie, yet you manage to make them overact and deliver one of the most mediocre films of their career.

Actually, I have to say that compared to the previous Housefulls, this one has a slightly fuller house, but because no one expects anything else, it’s pretty much like the older ones– characters tumbling over each other, crass jokes about body parts and fluids (how can they not be there) abound, and yes, there’s that classic climactic human chain, where the entire cast is yelling and screaming and shouting and…

Housefull 5 tries to bring back the madness of its earlier parts, but sadly, it never manages to match the fun. With a massive ensemble cast and lavish sets, it ends up being a chaotic disappointment, where the humour quotient even fails to impress. What should have been a fun, madcap mystery turns into a forced comedy with weak writing and over-the-top gags. The plot is predictable. There’s a clear attempt to recreate the OG Housefull chaos, but it just doesn’t land. Despite its glossy packaging and star power, Housefull 5 lacks genuine laughs or clever twists, making it a tiring and chaotic watch that fails to engage the audience.

Housefull 5 isn’t here to change cinema—it’s here to entertain, and it does exactly that. Watch it with zero expectations of logic, and you’ll likely walk out laughing.

Director Tarun Mansukhani has sadly presented to us the weakest execution of the franchise till now. At least the earlier parts had some entertaining moments which this one clearly lacked. The film surprisingly also has a U/A certificate despite having so many cringeworthy and double-meaning connotations and jokes. The music, except for maybe ‘Laal Pari’ is heavily forgettable.
