A feel-good tale with entertaining moments and some good humour… Loses grip post-interval, but the solid finale redeems it… Good watch!The supporting cast – especially the families and friends – adds value and lends authenticity to the world the film is set in.Final word? Watch it!

Ultimately, Bhool Chuk Maaf may end up being remembered for all that happened off screen – the confusion between its theatrical and OTT release, and a “compromise” (which has worried many in the industry) that means that within two weeks, it will be showing on a TV near you.

The biggest problem with Bhool Chuk Maaf is that it rides on a single, feeble idea that the makers are unable to expand into a passably comic tale of a wedding interrupted. The film’s genre-bending ambitions far outweigh the creative means at its disposal. The result is a plethora of bhool chuk that is difficult to gloss over, let alone pardon.

Sudeep Chatterjee’s camera captures the colour and caprice of Varanasi without tripping over the crowded milieu or hyperventilating over what spirituality the riverbanks have ‘ghat’. The performers are all in top form, except for Wamiqa Gabbi who plays Rajkummar Rao’s love interest on a constantly screechy note. She loves Rao’s character, but doesn’t like him. We feel something the opposite of the film.
