Anamika Telugu Movie Review

Anaamika is by no means a solid thriller, but it’s a good effort from Sekhar Kammula who is enamoured with the idea of a helpless woman struggling to find her husband in a city which has learnt to embrace all its contradictions. The only thing missing in the story is edge-of-the-seat drama and that makes all the difference. Watch it if you haven’t seen Kahani.

First half of the film is little slow and second half has the main content. The audiences of this film can be categorized into two groups – people who have seen Kahaani and people who havent seen Kahaani. As a person who has seen Kahaani, I find the changes to be little disappointing though Sekhar Kammula has honestly tried to make it as a film with fresh treatment and modified screenplay. Thriller has its disadvantages when remade as most of the people would be aware of the climax. Anaamika might be liked by those who havent watched the original.

For those who have not watched Kahaani, Anamika will make for a good watch. But if you have already watched Kahaani, then it is hard to forget the original. Its a different effort from Shekhar Kammula. But will the audience like it remains to be seen. Bottomline: Taut second half makes up for the slow first half.

Nayantara tries hard to save the film and yes, she is partly successful. Pre-climax portions are good. Despite missing some logic, the film is a one-time watch. The film might connect to people who haven’t watched original Kahaani. Verdict: Seedha Saadha Kahaani (Normal Story)

Anaamika is a very gripping thriller that surely deserves a watch for good performances from Nayanathara and Vaibhav. Keeravanis terrific background score and clever writing help the movie significantly. A slow first half lessens the impact a bit, but overall, this is a nice film from Shekhar Kammula.
