On the whole, De De Pyaar De 2 is not a worthy successor to the first part. It will, therefore, find the going at the ticket windows tough. The dull comedy in the post-interval portion and the lack of hit music are the biggest weak points. Opening: below the mark. …….Also released all over. Opening was on the lower side everywhere.

In what is mostly an entertaining watch, De De Pyaar De 2 explores themes of ageism, double standards, emotional blackmail, and ingrained patriarchy. So much for treating the audience with respect and not infantilizing them. Wish they hadn’t bleeped out the expletives. We all lip-read; we know a cuss word when we “see” it.

Devgn looks a bit morose throughout, since he is the butt of everyone’s ageist jokes, but does not try to steal the thunder from other actors, and a very spirited Rakul Preet Singh.The film is a fun watch, and it’s been a while since Hindi cinema had a zany, well-written comedy.

Well, just like the first part, DDPD 2 majorly works because of the smooth blend of humour and chaos with a tadka of family drama, which is more fun than being dramatic. Director Anshul Sharma impresses with his storytelling and makes this relevant tale entertaining and a breezy watch. While he will make you believe the characters are problematic, Sharma smartly adds twists to make you cheer, smile and laugh. The meta jokes and hilarious dialogues amplify the viewing experience.On the whole, De De Pyaar De is a perfect blend of chaos, humour and entertainment.

If only the film didn’t resemble an extended sit-com, with a house where most of the action takes place not bothering to hide the fact that it is a set, the length making us restive. Yes, we applaud all this modern-liberal stuff, but should it take this long to come to the point? Just shows how tough the sell of an older-young romance still is; and what if, shudder, the woman was older and the man much younger? Now that would be real growth.

It’s perfectly crowd-pleasing, and comfortably familiar — never extraordinary, but never dull either. It’s the kind of movie you watch knowing exactly what you’ll get, and you get precisely that. ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ is comfortable. Watch it if you like rom-coms, and want to give Bollywood a chance.

When De De Pyaar De was released in 2019, it came as a surprise and managed to impress most people. The concept was intriguing, and the narrative made the film an interesting watch, despite some flawed performances. While De De Pyaar 2 gives you hope in the beginning, the film eventually succumbs to half-baked writing. Some jokes land quite well, but that’s about the only thing that works. One might enjoy watching the film once for the jokes and Jaaved and Madhavan’s performances. However, it didn’t recreate the recall value of the original
