A feel-good entertainer that works for the most part… Crackling chemistry [SidharthMalhotra – JanhviKapoor] + excellent music [Pardesiya] are its strongest assets. Final word? ParamSundari ticks all boxes – youth connect, emotions, romance, music, drama… A good watch!

Gaurav Mishra, Aarsh Vora and Tushar Jalota have written a story which is so routine that it is shocking. There is no novelty whatsoever. All aspects of the story, except the circumstances under which Param goes to Cochin, are those that have been seen in earlier films. On the whole, Param Sundari is a below-average fare but its music will attract the public to the cinemas initially.

The real highlight is the charming chemistry between Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, who make the opposites-attract arc believable and enjoyable. The actors light up the screen with their presence, especially Janhvi who looks gorgeous in the traditional Malayali avatar. Sanjay Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Renji Panicker, and Siddhartha Shankar lend able support.Even if it largely remains in the known territory, fans of breezy romances will find it a pleasant watch.

Punjabi ‘munda’ meets Malayali ‘penkutti’ in Param Sundari, and everything happens by the numbers. End of story.Wait, there’s 136 minutes of the film, which struggles to find both the rom and the com, from the beginning to the end, finding its feet only towards the last half an hour.

Rom-coms are meant to be a guilty pleasure, the kind you sneak back to when you want comfort. ‘Param Sundari’, unfortunately, is the kind you forget about the moment the lights come back on. If a love story can’t sell love, what exactly is it selling?

The message finally reached Bollywood that Kerala is making great films, so it was decided that if they can’t make films like Kerala does, they will make a film in Kerala. Then, they throw in a full force God’s Own Country tourist reel — Kathakali, Kalaripayattu, elephants, waterfalls, Onam, the boat race… At the core of Tushar Jalota’s Param Sundari is the Bollywood romcom’s not-so-secret sauce — Daddy knows best, the rake gets the girl and good guy gets friend-zoned.

What the movie required was the right amount of aesthetics, which lacked to quite an extent even when it came to the costumes, though Sidharth Malhotra looked smashing as always, but a lot of work needed to be done on Janhvi considering that she has been portrayed as a girl from Kerala. The film has its heart in the right place as it addresses multiple issues especially how today’s generation decides everything on the basis of AI and algorithms and doesn’t listen either to their heart or head. But towards the end the film does get overtly exhausting with its so-called forced cuteness and simplicity.

In the end, Param Sundari is a comfort food cinema. Paneer Butter Masala, idli-sambar, choose your metaphor. Familiar, yes, but warm, fragrant, and deeply satisfying. It may not aspire to gourmet innovation, but it fills the heart with the uncomplicated sweetness of first love, and the nostalgia of a genre once adored but now endangered. It leaves you smiling, maybe even believing, however briefly, in the miracle of soulmates, algorithm or no algorithm

Screen, swipe, and scores are some of the most common keywords that rule our love life, unfortunately, but it’s true. And Param Sundari does one thing absolutely spot on: it understands the confusion, the resistance, and the exhaustion of a generation that has grown too comfortable with technology, even to find love. Instead of judging, however, the film gently drags the audience back, reminds them that love isn’t something you can order online, totally based on statistics. In all its glory, love is definitely messy, risky, and scary, but it’s the most human act we will ever perform.

Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s soul-stirring love story Param Sundari has a romantic ending. The film is more than just a rom-com; it’s a soulful exploration of love beyond boundaries, algorithms, and expectations. With compelling performances, cultural warmth, and a romantically satisfying ending, it strikes the right chords.
