Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is stuffed with characters and plot, but ultimately little of it feels urgent. Is this, I wonder, a design flaw in the very idea of the multiverse? After all, if there are several versions of each character and a trillion people can die – as they do in this film – without creating much of a flutter, what really are the stakes? At various points in this film, characters ask each other: Are you happy? By the end, my answer was: No.

Michael Waldron has written a good story and screenplay, which keep the audience engaged and involved. However, the drama tends to get boring after the first 30-40 minutes when its pace slackens for around 20-25 minutes, but the interest level increases thereafter. From then on, the drama not just involves but also entertains the viewers.

Raimi and his writers ensure the plot is well paced out and give ample scope for it to be immersed in colourful special effects and elaborate set designs. Director Sam Raimi works his magic by giving the audience an entertaining multiverse saga by packaging it smartly with the elements that he believes can cast a spell on them, irrespective of their love for the MCU.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is not your quintessential Marvel movie. While it would come as a treat for fans who were waiting for Sam Raimi to return and try his hand in the new world of MCU, it might not be as appealing for those who are fans of the old MCU style. Elizabeth and Benedict surrender to Sam Raimi’s vision and shine. They are the reasons the movie makes it worth a watch.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness while being an entirely different product from what expected, is entertaining but also hints mediocrity in parts. You anyways will have to watch it, but don’t go in with too much hope. But yeah be prepared to cheer louder when the Marvel veterans arrive.

Overall, DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS is definitely a must watch. Gripping, visually stunning, dark yet humourous, the film takes the viewers on a rollercoaster ride. For a Marvel fan, this film is almost a peek into what to expect from future MCU releases. However the long drawn sequences and pace issues do considerable damage to retaining the viewers interest. At the box office, the film will do well especially with a rather clear run. However, one cannot expect it to rival the business of the recently released SPIDER-MAN film.
