Mukunda Telugu Movie Review

Srikanth Addala who has delivered films with natural moments and undercurrent drama has upped the action quotient to deliver Mukunda. Mukunda is a film that deals with municipality politics and has a strange conflict point of hero upsetting villain for the sake of a friend. Plus points of the film are characterizations, dialogues, cinematography and actors (Rao Ramesh and Varun Tej). The flipside, screenplay and lack of direct conflict for hero/villain and passive romance thread dilutes the impact. We have to wait and see how ordinary moviegoer embrace the movie

However, by second half, you feel the director has put the audience on the loop mode with the same pattern repeating over and over again. In fact, after a point, you end up wondering why the hero who appears to be intelligent otherwise is wasting so much time to save a rather stupid friend who takes him for granted. Also, the second half focuses more on the politics of a small town which may or may not appeal to the urban audience. While one section of the audience might relate to Addala’s style of story-telling, others may find it serious and boring to their liking.

Mukunda is not a run of the mill films for sure. It has a different premise and strong characters. However it lacked a proper story and that has affected the screenplay to a great extent. Despite having its moments Mukunda falls short of being a good film. Deliberate attempt to stay away from commercial elements will eventually affect the prospects of the film at the box office. To sum it up, Mukunda marks a decent debut for Varun Tej, but fails as a movie. You may watch it for Rao Ramesh’s career defining performance and Mayer’s soundtrack.

‘Lack of aspiration’ is the biggest crime, is what Srikanth Addala has decided to tell audiences. By the time we understand that, the film gets completed. Probably he should have altered screenplay and written very well engaging scenes to create impact. On entertainment front, Varun Tej’s dialogues and fights hold tight but pop-corn style comedy hasn’t clicked. With many dull moments and slow narration, Mukunda is not a thundering debut for the mega hero, but it lays good foundation for him. Few educated youths may like it, but masses will not lay red carpet.

there isn’t a big story and screenplay has to be the main nerve for narration. Regrettably, Srikant’s scripting and scene conceiving technique haven’t got a soul. More than audience, there is definitely a lack of clarity with in Srikant on what he wished to show and what he really wanted to preach us with this lacklustre theme. Commercially, ‘Mukunda’ would be a dampener in lower class centres. Their wait to see Varun Tej gave an unpleasant result. In metros and ‘A’ class areas, we need to wait and see.

Srikanth Addala’s strength lies in handling love track and family drama. In ‘Mukunda’, He tried to include heroism elevation scenes which were against his usual style. Poor writing and Not so impressive direction plays the spoilsport though. The fact that Hero-Heroine hardly talk to each other throughout the movie makes things worse. Some how, Srikanth ended up going off the track this time.
