There isn’t anything non stereotypical about the narrative flow either. Well, the acting looks as forced as everything else about the film. Naga Chaitanya just doesn’t look the part and must give up on trying living up to that Shiva legacy. It didn’t work with Josh neither does it here. It’s probably a case of wrong casting than bad acting. In any case it’s a lame plot and no amount of acting could have salvaged it.

First half of the film is nice and with good elevation of protagonist character in pre-interval scenes. Second half of the film should have been better with better screenplay. This film too needs trimming in terms of comedy episodes and songs just like Deva Kattas earlier movie Prasthanam. Auto Nagar Surya has good premise and good intention. But should have edited better. Plus points of the film are dialogues, ideology and performances. On the flip side, we expect an interesting second half. We have to wait and see how masses embrace Auto Nagar Surya.

Though the main plot emerges during the second half, here, the director loses track totally. The scenes showing the growth of Surya into a force that fights rowdy sheeters are quite tame. Similarly, the scenes between the rowdies and the hero also fail to impress the audience as they fail to capture the tension.In all, Dev Katta would have been better off if he dealt with a contemporary subject than going into the past. Bottomline: Wasted effort.

The story is average in the first of the film and the placement of a couple of song is wrong and they come as speed breaker to the narration. The movie picks up a momentum a the rain fight song at the interval bang. The second half of the film is very engaging and entertaining. However, the climax is weak, it should have been better. Overall, Autonagar Surya has a simple and routine story, but it is the director’s treatment of the subject that makes the film a good entertainer. Naga Chaitanya rocks the viewers with his heroism. The movie is good treat for all Akkineni family fans.

Autonagar Surya has a decent point to convey, snail paced execution and weaker screenplay have been the cause for the negative payoff of the film. Positives of the film are Cinematography, Background Score and Dialogues. On the flip side its Snail paced narration, Screenplay, Situation less Songs, forced comedy and Editing. Director Devakatta faces the same problem what he faced while Prasthanam, he should consider re-editing the flick to increase the effect of the film. One the whole, Audience dont need to run to the theater to watch the film, but do watch it once its out on home edition for the powerful dialogues.
