SunnyDeol roars again… A full-on mass entertainer, driven by three major strengths: Sunny’s heroism, seeti-maar dialogues and zabardast action… A mass-friendly package that delivers what it promises. Final word? Jaat is an ode to the masala cinema we’ve cherished for years – a genre that’s sadly missing from the #Hindi cinema landscape today… The film delivers what the audience craves: a big-screen entertainer.

On the whole, Jaat is for the masses only. It will, therefore, work in single-screen cinemas and in small centres but business in multiplexes and big cities will be below the mark. Ladies, families and classes will not like the film. In the final tally, therefore, the film will not be able to do much at the ticket windows and will prove to be a loss-making enterprise. Business in Haryana will be very good for obvious reasons.

Sacrificed at the altar of all that gruesome blood-letting and mutilated bodies hanging from the rafters and savaged women forced to huddle together is coherence and plot. The parts with the ripping-off-the-clothes and the lusty men setting upon the women are just plain ugly, reminding you of the high on melodrama-and-glycerine masala mish-mashes Bollywood used to churn out in the 70s and 80s. How many heads can you chop off? How many bodies can you stack up? We are left numb, unmoving, and desensitised in the dark

Unless you are an inveterate Sunny Deol fan, Jaat would be best avoided. But even if you are, the egregious violence and the monotonous plotting might prove to be impediments. The film has the rhythm of a bulldozer (that is the moniker the combative hero earns) – it is overly noisy and drably lumbering.

Jaat delivers exactly what it promises: a nostalgia-fueled action drama powered by its male leads and dialogue-heavy theatrics. But for all its sound and fury, it lacks the narrative courage to push beyond its comfort zone. It’s a decent one-time watch for fans of old-school Deol-led actioners, but for anyone seeking innovation or depth, Jaat may feel like a missed opportunity wrapped in a thunderous punch.

Sunny Deol is back to deliver what his fans expect from him, however, that essentially means it’s the same old formula. The film runs on bloodshed and violence, but it looks artificial and doesn’t scare you, just makes you cringe and hope it’s over. If you are a fan of action genre and vintage Sunny Deol – watch it once.

At its core, Jaat is a critique of systemic corruption and the abuse of power, exploring the impact of unchecked greed on the innocent. The film tackles these themes with raw honesty, weaving them seamlessly into the narrative. Directed by Gopichand Malineni and produced by a dream team, Jaat is a high-voltage action-thriller that demands attention. With its bone-crushing action, stellar performances, and emotional story, this film is a must-watch for fans of mass cinema. Get ready for a cinematic experience that’s loud, proud, and unapologetically entertaining.

The film is nasty, brutish and long. The 153-minute Jaat is most alert and alive in its elaborately choreographed action set pieces, in which gravity, restraint and logic are skillfully slaughtered as surely as Ranatunga’s men.Miraculously armed with a UA16+ certificate, Jaat sets itself up in direct contest with previous ultraviolent Adults-only films such as Animal, Kill and Marco. The movie is down to these two evenly matched men. Except for Regina Cassandra’s decapitation-addicted spouse, every other character is forgettable, their only purpose to be molested, brutalised or beheaded.

The plot revolves around Rana Thunga (Randeep Hooda) a Sri Lankan immigrant turned smuggler whose notorious empire terrorizes the neighboring village of Mootupali. When all hope seems lost, enters Sunny Deol as the mysterious ‘Jaat’ who shakes the entire foundation of this empire.
