Well-packaged entertainer with an excellent twist + captivating second half… #KartikAaryan fantastic, KiaraAdvani top notch… SameerVidwans’ direction deserves brownie points… MUST WATCH! SatyaPremKiKatha is a progressive film and the message / culmination is what you carry home… Minor hiccup: Excessive songs in the first hour, in fact the film would’ve been more impactful if it was shorter by 15 odd minutes.

The audience gets a shock when the true picture of Katha’s past emerges in the second half. From then on, the rest of the post-interval portion moves like a bullet and entertains the audience thoroughly. The first half has its share of light moments which are enjoyable but could’ve been better. On the whole, Satyaprem Ki Katha is a fine entertainer for all age groups and all classes of audience. Ladies, in particular, will love the film.

Satyaprem Ki Katha educates while it entertains, but many of the creative choices that the script by Karan Shrikant Sharma makes and the directorial sleights that Vidwans resorts to lead to avoidably mawkish convolutions that the film is unable to snap out of, especially in the second half. If mere intent could make a film, Satyaprem Ki Katha would be deemed a success. As for what it actually delivers, unevenness mars the show.

The latest family drama starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani is an attempt to be radical while keeping it under wraps, hoping viewers will swallow the ‘brave’ stuff if it’s wrapped tightly enough in an ultra-bright red-and-yellow palette. Satyaprem Ki Katha, in trying to please everyone by its mod-trad vibe, ends up being neither here nor there, while blasting our eardrums in the process because whoever heard of keeping the background music volume low?

Starting on a light-hearted slice-of-life note, Satyaprem Ki Katha takes a serious turn to give an important social message. But in the end, it leaves you with a smile on your face.

overall theme of the film is committed to driving home a social message. While doing so, the narrative often drags with scenes that don’t make the best use of the talents at hand.Satyprem Ki Katha is driven by its need to preach and give a message. The subject does move you and leaves you with much to think about, however, it tends to take the more emotional route than an entertaining one.

There’s a noble cause behind the troubled marriage which, while sensitively handled, still demands that the hero take the initiative of releasing his heroine from her travails. Director Vidwans had explored a similar situation in his biopic Anandi Gopal, about one of the first women to study medicine in India. If Anandi’s husband practically bullies her into training to be a doctor, Satyaprem – more gently, it must be said – is the one nudging his beloved wife towards the light.

Overall, Satyaprem Ki Katha is an average love story with powerful performances from its lead pair, Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani. If you are a fan of Kartik and Kiara, this will be a treat for you. Otherwise, the film doesn’t have anything new to offer.

Satyaprem Ki Katha is much more than just a simple love story. It is a film with a heart, and one that takes a fresh, entertaining route to talk about an issue that plagues our society. Without revealing or spoiling much, I can simply say that unlike many other films in the past, Satyaprem Ki Katha tackles a social message without sermonising or degrading it. It entertains but sensitively.
