‘Om 3D’ Telugu Movie Review

Ratings:3/5 Review By: Jeevi Site:Idlebrain

Om 3D is a simple revenge story narrated with lot of twists in back-and-forth screenplay. I wish that emotional content would have had more depth. The plus points of the film are efficient use of 3D technology and screenplay twists. On the flipside, an all-round orientation in the script would have done a lot of good to the film. On a whole, one should pat the back of Kalyan Ram for making Om 3D film with uncompromising passion and first-class 3D technology.

Not sure how many (why would anyone really) would have fancied watching a banal Tollywood revenge drama – revolving around a father-son sentiment with and a love triangle as a sub plot – in 3D? The music is plain uninteresting to listen to and neither is it nice to watch. The writing is devoid of any substance either. There aren’t enough gags on offer either so, the entertainment value isn’t great either. The action sequences are a scream though. Besides the technical wizardry, there is little in the movie that’s above par. Note: Watch it for the 3D experience, everything else about it is just too blah.

Some of the action sequences are quite an experience to watch in 3D but on the whole, 3D effects seemed unnecessary for this tale. Story wise, the film follows the regular formula. It’s a revenge drama, with high-voltage violence. In fact, it’s quite gory at times and 3D accentuates the violence. Om can be watched once and Kalyan Ram’s fans have a reason to rejoice — they can see their hero in full form on screen after three years!

Though the film is two hours long, it feels as if one has been sitting through it forever. The director hasn’t made any efforts to provide relief for the audience. More than that, the film suffered mainly due to its screenplay, it was very weak. Conceiving the plot was good but if it is not arranged in the right sequence and the key twist is not shown with conviction then the whole effort goes waste. The film takes off without any boring moments but as it progresses it begins to lose steam. The second half showed a good twist but it lacked the right emotion in it. The absence of entertainment value such as comedy or strong romance has removed any scope to score. Overall, this is a film which doesn’t really deliver what it looked to promise.
