Farzi is a thriller packed with everything that the genre demands and then some. It is a tangled tale of transgressions that is never ever in danger of veering off course. Binge-worthy all the way.

The action goes back and forth between the ‘chor’ and the police, leaving battered bodies and splattered blood in its wake. But, and this is the trouble with ‘Farzi’, nothing ever feels urgent or fresh enough. There is a lot of explanatory chatter, a lot of declamation, and a lot of first-tell-then-show: what could have been wrapped up in four or five episodes is stretched over into eight. The reason is clear. This show is in service to its star, not to its plot:

Counterfeiting is the second-oldest profession in the world and Raj and DK’s Farzi is all about that. The Amazon Prime Video original series might be about farzi notes, but the concept is totally original. The makers of The Family Man, yet again, get its audience hooked on to an intriguing plot with solid performances, fun one-liners and thrilling sequences.

Bottom line: While Farzi might not be as great as The Family Man, it serves as an entertaining binge-worthy series to watch over the weekend. Don’t burden it with The Family Man’s baggage and you’ll enjoy it.

There are too many F and MC, BC words, which is like an all too familiar calling card for such shows on OTT, but thankfully here only a few of them feel out of place. The dialogues on the whole are very relevant and well-suited to each character. Overall, ‘Farzi’ is a refreshing and intensely gripping scamster saga whose pros far outweigh its cons.

Farzi is an introduction to the rise of a villain who is also the hero and might appear in Raj & D.K’s illustrious universe ahead. But one cannot ignore the fact that it is also walking a path already taken without much of uniqueness.

Overall, Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi starrer Farzi is a compelling watch and will keep you hooked till the end. But to be honest, I started watching the series for Shahid but ended up rooting for Vijay.

Raj & DK’s signature filmmaking style is present throughout the show and tiny humor-relief moments are present throughout the show amidst the dark themes. The storyline of the show is quite gripping and will not bore you or make you turn away from the screens even for a moment. The ending of Farzi has been left on an open note hinting that there could be a second season. All in, the show is entertaining and can be watched in one go (if you can) without feeling the need to take a break. Farzi has a total of 8 episodes each ranging from 58 minutes to 1 hour.
