Comedy might be the trend in Tamil cinema of late but this film feels like an exercise done just for the sake of it. It is a not-so-subtle dig at the two older actors, who, following their initial successes, became parodies of their screen self. Maybe, in 20 years time, the heroes of today who feature in middling ‘comedies’ like this one might become a parody for the future generation.

Tamil film Ya Yaa is an average movie, with a story that lacks direction and performances that failed to deliver. The story completely lacks direction and just seems to drift from one scene to another, without following any logic. The scenes lack life and energy and the performances are average at best. With a cast that included Mirchi Siva, Santhanam and Powerstar, all hugely popular comedy stars with their own fan following, the audience certainly expected some huge laughs, but the film has nothing to offer their fans.

The audiences watch Shiva’s films purely for the comedy and this film could have done with some more gags, especially since it features Santhanam too, but instead it stretches itself into love and betrayal segments that hamper the proceedings.Verdict: Typical Shiva brand of comedy which has its share of hits and misses.
