1.) The first day collections are 10th Highest of 2015 behind PRDP,Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Singh is Bliing, ABCD 2, Welcome Back, Brothers, Gabbar is back Shaandar and Dil Dhadakne Do and ahead of Ranbir Kapoor’s Roy
2.) This is 3rd Highest Opening day for Ranbir Kapoor in his career after Besharam and Yeh Jawani Hain Deewani
3.) This is 7th highest opening day in Deepika Padukone’s career

Most of the collections of Tamasha has come through multiplexes in top cities single screens and mass areas have not been that strong.
Tamasha had a Good to very good start at metros but was average to decent at multiplexes of big cities but is low elsewhere !.
This is a boost to Ranbir Kapoor that he has not lost his appeal as Tamasha has opened much better than Bombay Velvet and even Roy though some credit would also go to presence of Deepika Padukone whose presence has also helped the opening.
A Point of concern is that Tamasha has opened lower than Shandaar and Dil Dhadakne Do both city centric movies
The last time this pair came together they created history in terms of Yeh Jawaani Hain Diwani which is one of the top 10 highest grossing bollywood movies worldwide.
Since than Ranbir has lost his touch and has given 3 box office disasters but Deepika has gone on to become box office queen who has given solo hits like Piku.

Tamasha was sold by Producer Sajid Nadiadwala to UTV as part of a 3 picture deal also containing Phantom and Tiger Shroff’s next Baaghi. The total deal was rumoured to be valued at approximately 200 crores minimum guarantee.
Tamasha was expected to be major gainer for UTV in the deal.
