Earlier:
Shaandar is now dropping continuously . Drop between Tuesday and Wednesday is 15%
Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt ‘s Shaandar had a huge crash on Monday at india box office.
Shaandar had a biggest crash of 2015 on Monday when it crashed 83% from its day 1 which was a holiday.
If compared to Friday crash was still 72% on Monday
However in case of Bombay velvet it had a low opening day as nobody gave it a chance for success but Shaandar had gotten a big double digit opening which was also the 7th highest of 2015 that means this crash is even more disappointing.
The trend is similar to last year’s besharam which also came crashing down on bad word of mouth.
In North India Shaandaar ‘s poor performance helped Pyaar ka punchnaama 2 to do better and now that movie is collecting more than shaandaar especially in Punjab and new Delhi.
Only East india is a little bit better but that is probably only due to durga puja holidays which is bigger on that side.
Shaandaar will end up as another big flop but lower than Bombay velvet as costs are lower.
Budget: 68 Crores inclusive of prints and advertising.
Shaandar has been sold by Phantom again to Fox Star who have bought at a based price of 48 Crores.
Fox Star has themselves spent 20 crores on prints and advertising.
Fox Star has booked satellite and music rights for Rs 27 crores but it need s to cover the remaining cost
It needs a distributor share of 38 crore or box office collections of 76 crore to be called a hit
Shaandaar had a much higher budget which is around 3 times higher than that of Vikas Bahl’s last Queen.
Queen’s success had happened because of the low budget but Phantom is a mega budget movie
Three Day Records:
1.) Despite the big Dusshera Holiday the three day total when compared to first weekend for movies in 2015 Shaandaar is 11th Highest of 2015 just ahead of movies like Piku, Drishyam and Roy and is outside the top 10.
2.) 3 day total compared to first weekend of Shahid Kapoor movies is second highest in Shahid’s career after R Rajkumar.
3) For Alia Bhatt this 3 day total actually 4th highest weekend in her career spanning 5 movies with only highway doing worse than Shaandaar.
4) For Director Vikas Bahl this is actually highest 3 day total ahead of Queen and Chillar party.
Day 1 Records:
1.) This is the highest ever opening day in Shahid Kapoor’s career and is the first time he had gotten a double digit opening day. His previous highest was R Rajkumar with Rs 9.47 Crore.
2.) For Alia Bhatt the opening day is second highest in her career after 2 states which had collected 12.11 Crore on its opening day
3.) Shaandar is 7th highest opening day of 2015 behind Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Singh is Bliing, ABCD 2 , Welcome Back, Brothers and Gabbar is Back.
4.) For Director Vikas Bahl this is his highest ever opening day of his career as his last Queen which was a sleeper hit had collected only 1.75 crore on its opening day.
