Besharam Music ( Songs) Review

Ratings:3/5 Review By: Rediff Site: Joginder Tuteja

Ever since the promotion of Besharam has begun, some flak has come its way for various reasons. Now though the soundtrack isn’t quite the kind that matches up to the kind of high that one was expecting, it still is fun and peppy enough to keep you engaged right through the duration that it plays.

Listening to the latter part of the album makes Besharam sound like a medley of mediocre Bollywood numbers, mixed and remixed to ear-assaulting effects. Aa re still has a catchy hookline while Chal hand uthake nache, the successor to Pandit’s previous hit Munni badnaam from Dabangg, doesn’t even have half of its oomph. It’s hard to imagine how the film’s biggest star showcase—with Ranbir, Rishi and Neetu Kapoor together—was designed around this song. It’s a below average album, with a couple of redeeming factors, that too with questionable credentials.

It won’t be wrong to dismiss the songs as bores! Barring a few, most of them make for a decent hear. But none of them attempts to push the envelope and create anything fantastic. Lacking the marvel, Lalit Pandit does bring back the aroma of the 90s, but fails to render the needed energy in the album. Reveling in mediocrity, it is an average affair overall. I am going with 2.5/5. Besharam should have had greater spunk but the expectations fail as the music director plays safe by using the best of his old formulas and recipes to precipitate a new product

The original tracks are questionable as it is so while we are wondering why, the remix versions just induce yawns in regular intervals. End verdict? Lalit got lucky and Besharam is besuraa barring ‘Tu Hai’. Besharam hits theaters on October 2nd.
