Iddarammayilatho Telugu Movie Review

Ratings:3/5  Review By:  Jeevi  Site:Idlebrain

First half of the film is entertaining. The beginning of second half meanders due to lack of story (all time-pass scenes like Brahmanandam-Ali are inserted). Movie has an interesting twist towards the climax. Plus points are Allu Arjun, Iddarammayilu (Amala Paul & Catherin), Puri’s dialogues and technical aspects. On the flipside, emotions didn’t work. A screenplay with direct hero/villain conflict established to audiences at the beginning would have made the movie more interesting. On a whole, Iddarammailatho is a slick flick with romance and action thrown in. We need to wait and see how audiences embrace the movie.

All the panache does add up to make the film look better than it is, well at least until the end of the first half. Minutes into the second half our worst fears begin to come true. Beneath all the gloss is just another big dumb action/romance package that’s as unsurprising as they get. Note: It’s stylishly shot but ends up feeling like an incredibly well garnished dish that’s got a key ingredient missing. Unless you are a die hard Allu Arjun fan, you’ll struggle to see the bright side of this one.

What Is Good: Allu Arjun’s performance, Kecha’s Action Sequences, DSP’s Songs & Background Score, Choreography, Interval Bang, Catherine skin show. What Is Bad: Effort less… hurried direction of Puri, Missing entertainive one-liners, VILLAIN artist, VILLAIN Charecterization, No Entertainment, Non connective story, Over make-up, Nonsense Comedy, Cinematography, Zero Chemistry between lead pairs, Never used true energy of Allu Arjun. Watch It Or Not ?: One more hurry-burry execution of Puri Jagannadh. One time watcher. Might still fare at box office due to no major flicks before and after.

Somewhat incomplete, somewhere dissatisfaction…some emptiness…that’s the feel of ‘Iddaramayilatho’.The visuals are great and so are the making values. Songs and fights are also good. Hero carrying the film on his shoulders is seen but overall the film doesn’t satisfy. The reason for that is weak script, there is no strength in the subject. In cinema parameters, this is a below average to average stuff. We have to see how it encashes the summer advantage and solo release bonus.

Puri Jagannadh is known to come up with novel themes for his film despite them lacking in overall movie. The problem of lacking finesse continues here too but this time he has got a predictable story barring a small twist during the second half. The film relies completely on his screenplay and as a director did a decent job with it. First half of the film has little story progress but its breezy nature makes it a decent watch. Interval block has been done neatly. Its the second half where the core story of the film lies and it is in this part the director looses the grip on the narrative temporarily. His trademark fast paced narration is missing during most parts of the second half. But he manages to save the day with pre climax and climax of the film.
