Panjaa Movie Review

Ratings:3/5 Reviewer:Jeevi Site:Idlebrain

First half of the film is decent. The motive in the second half is not strong enough, hence it will not connect to the average audiences. Pawan Kalyan and technical values are the strengths of the movie. On the flip side, the much needed emotions and entertainment which is staple diet for any Telugu film lover is lacking in the movie. On a whole, Panjaa is a sensible attempt, but not in the tune of popular taste. We have to wait and see how crowds react to it.

The main drop down in the film is Pawan Kalyan’s character design. His getup and being a yesman to a gangster aren’t in kilter with his nursery business. The major conflict point is missing in the film and the director failed to narrate convincingly. The heroines are big minus and not at all in gel with the sensibilities of native audience. The pace of the film also goes slow and background score spoiled it further. Humor quotient is very weak in the film and it is hard to get a single smile through out for an average audience.First half is morose and second half is emotion overdose. On a whole, Panjaa hits badly on the expectations of audience. This film can be watched by aspiring film makers if they seriously want to know what mistakes the director shouldn’t make. There is poor chance for this film to see colors at box office.

Vishnu Vardhan, who makes his debut in Telugu cinema, comes up with a product that is slick and stylish, but the content is sourced from so many films that one feels a sense of déjà vu. Panjaa also reminds one of Pawan Kalyan’s own earlier movie, Balu. The second half of the film lags a bit. There doesn’t seem to be much originality in the story telling. The film meanders along with strong doses of violence and then peters out aimlessly. On the whole, Panjaa is nothing extraordinary and even a bit disappointing.

Panja is good in the first half and weak in the second half. The film could have been much better if the director had given more attention t the story and screenplay. The film in the ends up as just a big treat for Pawan Kalyan’s fans but for others it would be just an average entertainer.

Panjaa is a stylishly made action film which may not appeal to all the sections of audience. People who look for some novelty in dealing a star’s film without all those clichés may like it. The percentage of such audience will be always low and let’s see if Panjaa sets a new trend in bringing a sea change to our Tollywood style.
