Bejawada Movie Review

Ratings:2/5 Reviewer:Venkat Site:GreatAndhra

Except bloodshed and violence to attract the mass audience, there is absolutely no emotion in the film. The audiences do not react even if the lead roles in the film are killed. At times, one would get an impression that one was watching a street play. All the scenes that lead to the death of Prabhu are just artificial. The audiences could not get involved anywhere in the film as they could easily predict what is going to come in the next scene.Since Bezawada is a low-budget film, the producer may recover the expenditure incurred on it; but it is doubtful whether it would get any appreciation from the audience. May be a section of audiences who enjoy bloodshed and violence might enjoy watching it.Bottomline: ‘Bezawada’ not rocks, but shakes the audience!

Bezawada has nothing to offer the viewer except the same old stuff one has seen in Ram Gopal Varma’s umpteen films. And it has nothing to do with the actual incidents which happened in the town (Vijayawada) as rumours suggested a while ago. The title Bezawada (Vijayawada) is a misnomer and there is hardly a storyline in the film. Debutante Vivek Krishna’s maiden attempt is a poor, ill-crafted film which got unnecessary and unwarranted hype when announced. The plot is very thin. On top of it, there’s too much bloodshed and violence.Bezawada ends up as a cliched fare.

A lot of hype has been created over the film Bejawada. Ram Gopal Varma managed to raise a lot of curiosity about the film. However, the film has nothing much to boast of either in thought or in execution. The story is ordinary and the screenplay is no better. The director fails to narrate the story in an interesting and convincing manner. The audience feels bored several times. Even the comedy by Brahmanandam and MS Narayana is pretty ordinary. The fights too are just routine. Music is also just average. Except for the title song there is not much to write about. Bejawada is a film that promises big but delivers very little. The film is a simple revenge drama that could have taken place anywhere, not just Bejawada. The film is below average.

First half is mainly focused on the gang politics in which hero is left in the background. He comes to the front in the second hour, but a poor script lets the film down. One would expect a tense thriller out of this concept. But the director’s inability to highlight the emotions seems to be the biggest drawback of the film.Second hour is sheer test of patience and it would be an almost impossible task to sit through it. It may appeal to people who look for excessive violence in a film.Bejawada may appeal to mass audience that look for some action and violence. People who expect a sensible or a sensational film from RGV’s camp will be terribly disappointed.
