Oosaravelli Movie Review

Ratings:3/5 Reviewer:Jeevi Site:Idlebrain

First half of Oosaravelli is nice with decent entertainment. The foundation of the story which comes in the second half should have been stronger. However, the Tamanna’s story in the flashback episode is heartt-touching and emotional. The climax should have been crisp. The plus points of the movie are NTR and different screenplay. On the flipside, better care in terms of commercial elements would have done a world of good. On a whole, Oosaravelli is a different movie for NTR.

Director Surendar Reddy’s attempts to show NTR in varied colours (hence the title Oosaravelli, which means ‘chameleon’) but it turns out to be a colourless entertainer though it is an atypical film for NTR Jr. The first half is just about okay. There is some humour woven in, there are some interesting twists and turns and some flashback episodes.Oosaravelli is a routine revenge drama.Post-interval the momentum slackens. There are only a few good moments and some noteworthy scenes and good songs (Brathakaali was also choreographed well) composed by Devisriprasad and good cinematography by Rasool Ellore, though his editor, Goutham Raju, could have made better use of his scissors.Oosaravelli is a routine revenge drama.

Watching the first half of Oosaravelli makes you feel that you can expect another super hit. The interval bang raises the expectations. But things begin to spiral down during the second half. There are those fluctuations which
are easily seen and one can feel the drag. The good side of the film is
the different treatment to the script and giving an elevation to the
heroine’s character. But due to the lack of depth in certain scenes, few
situations pass off lightly. For NTR fans, this will be a different treat. Except one or two high
octane dialogues, most of his character is about guessing and
unpredictability.

Oosaravelli has been touted as a different action entertainer from NTR.
NTR sports a very soft look in the film but his restrained performance
does not impress much. The story is wafer thin and the screenplay
jarring.

The director fails to come up with a good sentiment or a very big motive
for NTR to take revenge on the gangsters. The songs are picturised at
beautiful locales but the overall impact is average. Cinematography is
good and so are the production values. The film runs at a leisurely pace
and there is not much pick up in speed in the second half too. The
climax is also not very good.
Oosaravelli promises a lot but delivers very little. The film is sure to disappointment all his fans.

Script wise,
Oosaravelli is good barring few plot holes. But where it fails is with
balancing NTR’s mass image with the hero’s characterization. Director
had to sacrifice mind games and intelligent play for the sake of
satisfying NTR fans, which didn’t help the film much. On a whole
Oosaravelli can be watched once for its entertaining first half,
interesting plot and performances of the lead star cast.
