The take-off of the film is really interesting. But the unfolding of the story is not gripping. It is a simple love story from girl point of view with a backdrop of Badrinath temple. On the flip side, narration lacks grip and screenplay should have been better. A film of this grandeur needs emotional support to make it likable. VV Vinayak who proved himself as a highly successful mass director with his earlier films falter this time to handle a subject of such a huge canvas.

Badrinath is a lavish film with good production values. However, despite the action effort by Allu Arjun and the skin show by Tamannaah, the film is quite torturous to watch given a regular script with ‘fundamentalist’ overtones and songs inserted in unnecessary places. Director VV Vinayak’s potboiler doesn’t have enough to engross the audience.

The first half goes about in a mild manner and he shows his mettle before the interval bang with the idol fight. However, things gets a little quirky during the second half and it gets very predictable. Overall, the film will work strongly in the opening day due to Allu Arjun and Tamannah following along with the publicity hype but to be frank, the film has nothing extraordinary to be spoken about. It is a weak story line with Computer Graphics hungama. No grip in emotion. On a whole Badrinath ends up as much ado about nothing.

The screenplay is racy in the first half but it slows down completely in the second half.VV Vinayak is clearly confused. He tries to make a film with a religious touch but goes off track with a story about Tamanna and her problems. There is a distinct effort on the director’s part to play SAFE. So, he has included many duets that are pure masala stuff but a little out of place in the context of the film.Badrinath in the end turns out to be an average and routine mass masala film. There is no chance of the film beating Rajamouli’s Maghadheera.

Badrinath starts on a bright note. But immediately it takes a predictable path with some poorly etched characters and scenes. It is over the top action which would not be liked by the die hard fans even. Interval episode is too predictable and the action episode goes on for ages during that period. Second half starts on a dull note with hardly any engaging scenes. Song after song follows with a heavily censored fight sequence in between. The film heads to climax with literally nothing happening post interval. Climax is a big let down. This film doesn’t have any comparisons with Magadheera as the public believed but it has stark resemblance to Shakti movie starring NTR. Like that this film too falls flat on most aspects except for grandeur and a couple of songs.
