On the whole, LOVE U… MR KALAKAAR! is antiquated and old-fashioned and therefore, doesn’t work. The plot is beaten to death. The drama isn’t persuasive enough. The emotions fail to strike a chord. Sure, a few moments are worth appreciating, but one swallow does not a summer make. There’s nothing in LOVE U… MR KALAKAAR! that you haven’t watched before.

Here’s another effort on the part of Rajshri Inc to create a sweet, happy, family film which focuses on the fluorescent side of romance alone. In the Rajshri romance there is no place for lover’s tiffs, tirades and tantrums. Both Amrita and Tusshar begin with a smile and keep smiling till the very end. Surely, a bit of reinvention is the need of the hour for Rajshri Inc too. After all, it’s a fast and furious world we live in today.

Given the ‘staleness’ of the story and old school characters here’s where the director could have infused the screenplay with humour, fun and some amount of unpredictability. The script remains as tied down by convention as the one-dimensional characters and limps forward towards a predictable climax. For all the Tusshar Kapoor fans who remember him as the stuttering whacko from the Golmaal series here is an opportunity to see him in a new avatar.

Concept wise, the film has nothing new to offer. Debutant director S. Manasavi treads the familiar path, Bollywood’s done-to death mantra – rich girl and poor boy love story, which makes the film easily predictable. There are enough weak points in this outdated scriptfor Luv u Mr Kalakaar and certain characters in the film are also not developed as they were introduced in the filmThis Kalakaar is ordinary and has nothing much to paint!
