Lion has a huge star-cast, but not a single one of them, except Balakrishna and to an extent, Prakash Raj, has any substantial roles to play. Perhaps, the only saving grace is the background score by Mani Sharma and few power-packed dialogues. At a run time of 160 minutes, Lion feels excruciatingly long, and despite several twists and turns the story is barely engaging. And you can’t help but wonder if Balakrishna, along with the rest of the cast, deserved something better.

Interval episode is interesting. Second half has many episodes that exhilarate fans. Lion is a film that completely revolves around Balakrishna and depends on his performance. A good screenplay and right buildups (elevating emotions while building up to the key scenes) would have done a world of good to the cinema. On a whole, Lion is NBK’s show!

Lion is not your usual Balakrishna film. While the director did try to make it interesting by incorporating a variety of sub-plots and various settings, it still does not provide high doses of drama, emotions and entertainment that one expects from a Balakrishna film. Techincally speaking, it has all the ingredients, but still it lacks the spirit of a quintessential Balayya pot-boiler.Of course, die-hard fans of Balakrishna might still want to give the film a try, others must think twice before walking into the theatres. Bottomline: Devudaaaaa

On the whole, Lion is a complete Balakrishna film right from the word go. His power packed performance is the major asset and will go well with the masses. On the flip side, lack of proper handling of the subject and a predictable second half makes this film just an ok watch. Watch it only for Balayya.

The first twist revs up the proceedings. Tempo raised to all-time high. Balayya on a rampage. The first twist revs up the proceedings. Tempo raised to all-time high. Balayya on a rampage. Interval ends on a high. It is punch lines galore with Prakash Raj at the receiving end.

‘Lion’ has its moments but a few glitches in narration effected the prospects to some extent. Balakrishna, Songs, Fights and Confrontation scenes between Hero & Villains are pretty good. After an impressive Interval Bang, The film gets predictable throughout the Second Half and mostly relies on action & songs in this part. One gets the feeling a Star Director like Vinayak & Boyapati could have done a better justice to a potential script like ‘Lion’.
