Oka Laila Kosam Telugu Movie Review

Ratings:3/5 Review By: hemanth Kumar Site:Times Of India (TOI)

Andrew’s cinematography is beautiful and Anup Rubens’ work is quite impressive, although they don’t quite camouflage the dreariness of the second half. Director Vijay Kumar Konda shows good spark in his approach to storytelling when he establishes the characterisations of the two lead actors, but in the end, the film leaves you wanting for more. Oka Laila Kosam is a simple love story which doesn’t quite leave you with a big smile on your face, but it has enough mojo, if you are a big sucker for romance. After all, there’s nothing more comforting than a happy ending in a romantic film.

Oka Laila Kosam is a kind of script that works only with magic moments and a gripping screenplay. Some of the moments in the film are good. But an engaging screenplay is required for the second half to work well. The climax of the film is nice. Plus points of the film are Naga Chaitanya and Pooja Hegde. The success of the film depends on how youth and family crowds embrace it.

Naga Chaitanya has tried playing varied roles and dabbled with romantic films and action flicks. But Karthik suits him well as he gets to show the variations in his character. His dialogue delivery remains his only problem at times, but otherwise, he is perfect. The pace of the film is a bit slow especially during the second half and you wish some scenes with Ali could have been handled better. On the whole, Oka Laila Kosam is a happy watch. Nagarjuna has timed the release perfectly and it might work in favour of the film. Bottomline: Colourful love story

OLK actually has some obliging situations and interesting pair but regrettably the screenplay and treatment have no idea what to do with them. First half of the film is flat, whereas the drama in the second half doesn’t hold. The outcome is yet another case of “had potential couldn’t deliver”, a syndrome that Telugu cinema is blight with for quite some time now. To cut the long story short, “Oka Laila Kosam” starts promisingly, bringing on some grins, but those grins vanish faster than it takes to “say cheese”.
