Phantom took a good advantage of Rakhi Holiday and had a big jump in box office collections on Saturday .

Jump in box office collections between Friday and Saturday was around 50% which is very good.

Both Friday evening and Saturday has seen the holiday effect helping Phantom.

Rakhi Holiday has helped in mass areas where the opening was very poor and the holiday has helped it almost double its collections in these mass areas especially Gujarat, Rajasthan and MP.

Overall the trend seems to be really positive and the movie is doing a bit better than what was expected of it by the trade however the real test will be weekdays.

Phantom is set for a more than 30 crore weekend as Sunday should be good also and this will ensure that it will have one of top 7 opening weekends of 2015.

Phantom’s opening  will come as a big  boost to Saif Ali Khan’s flagging career

Overall Phantom has opened better than Saif Ali Khan’s recent movies due to presence of Katrina and good will that director Kabir Khan is having from Bajrangi Bhaijaan

Phantom Trade Expectation:

Trade has low expectations from Phantom but hope that the movie does better than Saif ali Khan’s recent movies as he has been involved in two major debacles Humshakals and Happy Ending which has reduced his star power.

Trade Expects

Fri 7-8 crore

Sat 10 crore (Raksha Bandhan)

Sun 11 crore

Weekend 28-29 crore

Phantom Budget:
Total Budget is 70 Crores
Production Cost: 55 Crore and prints and advertising cost 15 Crore

Phantom was planned three years ago when Saif was a bankable star and satellite market was good and used to give 25 crore for any decent movie now it will have to struggle as it will not get too much from Satelitte rights and will have to depend on  Theatrical avenues to recover its cost.

Saif and Trade is hoping that Kabir Khan may help Phantom pull through which looks tough for now as reviews are also not that good.
