Piku Saturday ( Day 2) Box Office Collection: Huge Growth

Piku  Box Office Collection

Piku had a huge growth in its box office collections on saturday with collections jumping by 60% with good word of mouth and critical acclaim.

This kind of growth in collections is very rare and was last seen in Queen but that was at a much lower level

Second day box office collection.
8.36 Crore (Trade Reports)
8.7 Crore (Producer Reports)

Total till date:
13.53 Crore (Trade Reports)
14.02 Crore (Producer Reports)

Piku has got a major screen benefit with most of Kuch Kuch Locha Multiplex screens returning to show Piku on Saturday after the poor performance of Kuch Kuch Locha on Friday.

Piku is doing extremely well in Mumbai city, Pune, Delhi city, Gurgaon, Kolkata and Bangalore.

PVR , Inox and DT are the main multiplex chains doing very good business on Piku especially on first day when they together had half the total collections

This jump gives it a very good chance if it can sustain itself on Sunday and remaining weekdays

Day 1 Report:

First Day Box office collections are
5.17 Crore (Trade Reports)
5.32 Crore Producer Figure

First Day Box Office Collections are 6th Highest Opening Day of 2015 behind Gabbar is Back, Roy, Baby, Badlapur and Tevar.

First Day Collections are better than Deepika’s previous critically acclaimed Finding Fanny

Piku opened low in the morning but collections grew during the day riding on good reviews and word of mouth.
Piku did its best business across metros and especially in premium multiplexes of these metros.

Best Regions for collections are Mumbai and Pune City

Piku Screens

Piku was released in 1310 screens Pan India which was slightly higher than Kuch Kuch Locha Hain. Most of the screens of Piku are in multiplexes and Piku has got only a limited release in single screens.

Piku Budget :

Unlike Shoojit Sircar’s last Vicky donor which was a low budget Piku  surprisingly is a big budget movie. The production cost including star salaries is a very high Rs 38 Crores. Prints and advertising cost is around Rs 12 Crores. Total Budget: Rs 50 Crores. This is more than double of what a Queen cost

Piku Hit or Flop Economics:

Satellite Rights of Piku have been sold for Rs 18 Crores while Music and Overseas rights have brought another 5 Crores. To be profitable Piku should generate a distributor share of Rs 27 Crores or a net business of approx Rs 55 Crores. This looks very difficult for Piku since it has only a week window before Bombay Velvet arrives which will take over most of its screens in next week
