Lopez and Guzman aren’t terrible but their attraction that must drive the story is never evidently felt. The window scenes appear a bid to titillate and their bonding over Homer and Odyssey seem faux. No wonder the frames resort to loud moaning to infuse the desired s**ual energy. Culminating into a horrendously gore-filled climax, this shallow movie offers nothing new and is infuriatingly tiresome to sit through.

There is murder and surprising amount of gore, car crashes and knife-wielding, but none of the brewing s**ual tension or fraying tempers that could have made this film different. And that’s despite a handsome effort by Lopez, who is even forced to flaunt J K Rowling to speak up for her chosen profession. On the other hand, she does get her hands on a “collector’s edition of Iliad”.

It is a decent film to watch with your partner over the weekend. Jennifer Lopez looks gorgeous in every frame but then again, do I need to tell you that? The story catches pace after the interval, so make way for more popcorn!
