“PK” has opened to excellent advance booking in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad & Kolkatta multiplexes despite not releasing on a holiday.
The premium multiplexes (gold class and director’s cut with Rs 1000 plus tickets ) are reporting sold out shows and have added extra seats
The normal multiplexes are showing very good advances and are looking at housefull opening shows.
The single screens are not showing same levels of excitement for PK and advances are lower than Dhoom 3 so far.
Single screens mostly look for action or hit music to take an opening and PK lacks that but a good word of mouth can bring in audiences even in single screens later on.
Seeing the advances we can definitely say that PK will take one of the bigger openings of the year but the opening may not be record breaking and will be definitely lower than Happy New Year.
However PK is a word of mouth movie and has 3 open week with a holiday in second week which means a good word of mouth can lead to breaking of records in longer run
“PK” team had released a statement that they decided not to increase the ticket price as they want everyone to watch the film .However ticket prices are domain of individual exhibitors and they have increased the same especially in metros.
With all-around buzz and advance booking, it remains to be seen what will be the box office collection of the film on first day.
