Lingaa First Day Box Office Collection
Lingaa has opened to huge numbers.
First Day Worldwide: 37 crores Gross
(This is a record for a South movie and higher than Rajni’s last endhiran)
(In Nett numbers this is equivalent to roughly 25 crores)
Territory Wise:
Tamil Nadu: 12.8 Crores higher than Kaththi.
USA: $806,190 (Thursday + Friday) from 118 screens or Rs 5.5 crores via rentrak
AP+Telangana: 5 Crores
Karnataka: 2.1 Crores
Kerala: 1.6 Crores
All numbers from south trade except USA via rentrak.
In fact the craze was so high in TN that Sathyam cinemas collected a record 35 lakhs from 110 shows in 6 locations across Chennai on Friday
Lingaa has gotten a widest release in North markets with some multiplexes in Mumbai and Delhi giving it 5 shows and a simultaneous hindi release would have helped the movie.
The Tamil trade buzz is that Rajinikanth was paid approx Rs 60 Crore for the film some of which is profit sharing and this made the budget of Lingaa around Rs 100 Crore.
Lingaa is produced by Rajinikanth’s close friend and Kannada producer Rockline Venkatesh and is said to be sold to Eros for Rs 120 Crore for worldwide rights

In Tamil Nadu gross and Nett will be same as lingaa is entertainment tax exempted.
Lot of south states would have full run share numbers from centers added to first day numbers which means first day number is always much higher.
