Muppets Most Wanted Movie Review

Ratings:3.5/5 Review By: Gavin Rasquinha Site:Times Of India

The Muppets take their show on the road, this time in Europe, with a tour visiting Berlin, Madrid, Dublin and London. However, Kermit is replaced by an evil impersonator called Constantine who plans to use the Muppets roadshow as a front for a heist. Almost every Muppet you might or might not have seen on TV as a kid features in this caper. There are cameos aplenty in this fun film. And the song sequences are both fun and wacky – two words that sum up this film.

Unlike the first film, this one has jokes that even adults will enjoy. Also, having Ty Burrell, Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais on the credit list isn’t a bad proposition at all! Already stalwarts in their fields, these actors make every effort to adapt to the genre and play along. The second half sort of slows down and the jokes tend to get a bit rehearsed. Also the focus tends to shift more on the human characters than the Muppets. Definitely better than its predecessor, Muppets Most Wanted is an enjoyable affair thanks to some brilliant writing and a bunch of stellar cameos.

This film by the same director as 2011′s The Muppets and voiced by the same group who have been doing it for years falls between too stools. Conscious it can’t be too aware of its place in Hollywood history but not stepping very far away from it either, it struggles through a clunky plot that stretches from Siberia to Dublin, with a very vast desert thrown in, and loses breath long before it calls it a day. When it pauses, it is only to break into a song, some of them quite enjoyable.

It is, therefore, no surprise that the movie is a laugh riot. Though the previous movie had its moments too, the jokes and gags feel much more evenly distributed in Muppets Most Wanted. It’s also better than The Muppets because it gives the Muppets much more screen time. Primarily targeted towards kids, Muppets Most Wanted efficiently combines mature themes with lovely animation. This makes it a fun and entertaining movie for everyone to watch. If you liked 2011’s The Muppets, you are bound to enjoy the sequel too.
