Oh My God (OMG) Music Review

Ratings:3.5/5 Reviewer:Joginder Tuteja Site:Bollywood Hungama

For a film that is totally different from quintessential Bollywood entertainers, OMG – Oh My God’ turns out to be a good album which has at least two chartbusters that would propel its fortunes. While ‘Go Go Govinda’ is already a hit, what would elevate the album’s position in the charts is ‘Don’t Worry (Hey Ram)’ which is all set to be huge. Moreover ‘Tu Hi Tu’ has a nice melody to it as well which should find good favour amongst the audience, hence ensuring that as an album OMG Oh My God! turns out to be a winner. OUR PICK(S) Don’t Worry (Hey Ram), Go Go Govinda, Tu Hi Tu

Overall, it is unlikely that the soundtrack to OMG Oh My God will be forever cherished in one’s music collection. With the exception of Go Go Govinda, the rest of the tracks in the album cannot be labelled as Reshammiya’s best works. He has composed far greater albums in the past which have left a more lasting impression on me and perhaps on other listeners too. In my view, the remixes should have been left out altogether as there is no spectacular appeal about them. Whether the film will be superior to its music will only be known once it officially releases on 28th September. I should stress however that Reshammiya has made a decent attempt with this album, but I feel that it had the potential to be a lot better. For that reason, the soundtrack to OMG Oh My God gets a 2 star rating!

On the whole it’s a good end to a pretty good album. After ending a self-imposed embargo, wherein he decided to compose music for only the films he acted in, composer Himesh Reshammiya proved that the magic is still intact with BODYGUARD. And he now has another winner in OMG OH MY GOD! The ‘Go Govida’ song is already a chartbuster and there are two other potential or let’s just say, sure shot super hit tracks ‘Don’t Worry’ (Hey Ram) and ‘Tu Hi Tu’ in this album which incidentally are also our favourites. The popularity of the songs will definitely provide the movie with just the right impetus needed for a good opening when the film releases worldwide on 28th September 2012.
