However, in the process of making quick movies, Jagannadh doesn’t concentrate on a strong storyline or characterisation. Instead, he just tries to make the films slick and stylish. Invariably, without much of a story there isn’t much to look out for, and logic too goes for a toss. This is the case with his latest film Devudu Chesina Manushulu (DCM) too. It’s difficult to sit though DCM. It seems to have no plot, wafer-thin characterisation, and a poor script and dialogues. It’s better to stay away from Devudu Chesina Manushulu.

With its old title, many assumed that ‘Devudu Chesina Manushulu’ would be a new wine in old bottle. But the idea was picked up from a Hollywood film and the script was knitted with some concocted and known jokes and paradigms.The major set back in the film is that it lacked peaks and seriousness in narration. What the director felt would bring laughs made the audience sit with tight lips in many instances. The idea that was picked up is good but it is clearly evident that proper homework is not done in conceiving the script. And considering Puri Jagannadh’s caliber and dexterity in screenplay, none can deny the truth that he didn’t put enough energies on the script.

It is Puri Jagannath, who has spoiled the entire mood of the film by dumping a non-sensical subject on them. It is clearly visible that he has ran out of ideas while starting off the film and by the time of interval bang, once again his mind goes blank. He doesn’t know how to continue the film and he starts it afresh, some how linking the subject. Of course, he has admitted that he started the film without any story. The screenplay of the film too is atrocious.

Devudu Chesina Manushulu runs in the same pattern as earlier Puri’s commercial entertainers. Hero is an aimless awara and the villain is a mafia don. They both meet at a point and fight head to head. Puri tried to deal this in a comical fashion, but the script is half baked.DCM definitely has a novel plot and an interesting premise, but the script is not as good as it should be. First half and second half are the same and convincing enough. That is something we don’t see regularly. However, such subjects need finesse on the script level. Puri Jagannadh had a good line on hands. Somehow he has failed on the execution part.Devudu Chesina Manushulu has some good comedy scenes and was targeted to be a mass entertainer. But it missed the target due to poor script.
