The Dirty Picture Music Review

Music of The Dirty Picture takes the expected route and delivers what it promised once ‘Ooo La La‘ came on air. While this song is a chartbuster all the way, even ‘Ishq Sufiyana‘ has in it to find long legs for itself, courtesy Emraan Hashmi’s strong fan base lapping it up. As for the added ‘tadka’ there is ‘Twinkle Twinkle‘ that should keep the mood naughty-n-entertaining, as is the theme and genre of the film as well. OUR PICK(S) Ooh La La, Ishq Sufiyana

Too bad the soundtrack composed by Vishal-Shekhar against (also the film’s scriptwriter) Rajat Aroraa’s lyrics doesn’t come anywhere close to living up to its promise or potential. It starts out with enough aplomb though. The super infectious retro beats of Ooh la la replete with all the jhatkas, matkas, jhankaar beats, overzealous panting and Bappi Lahiri-Shreya Ghosal’s enthusiastic delivery instantly transports you to those outlandish timesThat’s pretty much the lowdown on the soundtrack of The Dirty Picture. Barring the opening ditty, it doesn’t have much to ooh or la la about.

To sum up, Vishal-Shekhar may have started 2011 on a sedate note with BBUDDAH HOGA TERRA BAAP but with RA.ONE still ruling the hearts and charts they can now look forward to dominate the year on a high with the music of THE DIRTY PICTURE. With just the right kind of promotion that the album is enjoying, and the curiosity factor working largely, one can safely predict another winner in hands for Balaji Motion Pictures and Milan Luthria.

With The Dirty Picture soundtrack Vishal-Shekhar have essentially created a time-machine to transport the listener back to the full-on filmi glory of the early Eighties. Cheesy disco-pop and sly raunchiness combine in The Dirty Picture soundtrack a short, but supremely evocative Eighties recreation. Its frothy, its fun, and above all, its faithful to the era.
