There’s tremendous curiosity to watch Raaz – The Mystery Continues, but does it scare the living daylights out of you? Fortunately, yes!.On the whole, Raaz – The Mystery Continues is rich in the horror quotient and that is one of its major USPs, besides the highly competent performances by its principal cast and a lilting musical score. At the box-office, this one will continue the winning streak of Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt’s Vishesh Films. The 4-day weekend [Monday, January 26 in a holiday] will only cement its status further. Go for it!

Raaz is technically competent — the special effects are decent, the camera moves smartly, but it loses steam way too early and drags its feet from then on.I’m going with two out of five, just about, for director Mohit Suri’s Raaz: The Mystery Continues, the mystery referred to in the film’s title is that there isn’t any. Watch it if you have time to waste.

To be honest you’re in agony throughout Mohit Suri’s Raaz TMC too. That Hashmi, Ranaut and Suman are humdrum is not likely to remain a Raaz for very long. Director Suri extracts a catchy music score, though, from Raju Singh and Company. The cinematography is pretty fluid till it comes to endless car drives. and ouch even that pesticides company created via cheesy special effects.Do yourself a favour. Spend the ticket cash on something more appetising. Like a raazogolla.

The film however gets wrapped up in a clumsy climax, as most horror films do and does tend to drag in places.Nevertheless, director Mohit Suri does manage to get his groove back a bit, after a series of insignificant films that followed the power-packed Kalyug. Watch it for the chemistry between the Gangster pair and for a couple of goosebumps, here and there.

Kangana puts in a great performance, one, I admit, I didn’t know she was capable of. Her scenes when she gets possessed, as well as when she walks the ramp, are brilliant. In fact, her performance — along with Emraan’s — deserves a five star rating. Five stars also to director Mohit Suri for the way he has shot the film. The first part keeps you on the edge of your seat, as the film alternates between horror and suspense. However, the film tends to fall flat in the second half.

Mohit Suri has done a good job as director. Though the film is not quite convincing in parts, the first half is commendable with some edge-of-the-seat sequences, but it’s the climax that could’ve been dealt with in a better manner. Emraan, Kangana do a brilliant job.

Raaz-The Mystery Continues is filled with several such spooky moments – some work, some don’t. Bhatt camps’ sequel to the surprise 2001 hit Raaz has no relation whatsoever to the Bipasha Basu-Dino Morea flick. Except that both films are essentially murder mysteries with some edge-of-the-seat moments. Even if RTMC doesn’t scare the daylights of you, it will definitely engross you. Paisa vasool entertainment.

On the whole, ‘Raaz – The Mystery Continues’ is a superb horror flick with few middling attributes. Although it doesn’t happen to be as powerful as ‘1920’, it’s worth watching for the enchanting directorial of Mohit Suri.
Verdict: Scary on many parts
