The film’s last act succumbs to the usual CGI mayhem, but Waititi smartly intersperses the explosions with some laughs and never lets it become a slog. Hemsworth is in particularly good form, the humor giving his character a whole new unexplored dimension to build on in future films. The unavoidable trappings of the genre notwithstanding, Thor: Ragnarok is a whole barrel of fun. I’m going with four out of five.

Thor: Ragnarok has a personal voice and a distinctly loopy personality. The stakes are high – superhero movies are always about the end of the world, which incidentally is what Ragnarok means – but there is a generous dose of silliness. Thor: Ragnarok is genuinely funny. Which makes it brilliant. If you like your superhero movies to be grim and gritty then this might not work for you. But if, like me, all you are looking for is a good time, then get to a theatre right now. Because Thor: Ragnarok is a hugely enjoyable roller coaster ride.

Considering that Marvel's next big film is 'Avengers: Infinity War' which will undoubtedly feature an unprecedented number of superheroes sharing screen space and time, the plot here does feel somewhat rushed as the wheels are in motion for the next big entry. The stakes are far from low, but the film's overall impact on the MCU is debatable. But that doesn't take away from the fact that this feels like a zany comic book brought to life. It's an insanely fun ride from start to finish - one that you'd want to hop right back on for another round; not unlike a Led Zeppelin track on loop. Clearly, third time is a charm for Thor as 'Ragnarok' is the best film on the Asgardian till date, and another entry from Marvel you simply cannot miss!

On the whole, THOR: RAGNAROK that features witty one liners, sarcastic humour and plenty of action makes for a fun watch. Well timed comic sequences and well-choreographed action sequences aplenty make the film a perfect masala entertainer. At the Indian box office, THOR: RAGNAROK stands a good chance of posting impressive numbers given that it's releasing on a big scale and in multiple languages.

We’ve all seen enough superhero films and more often than not, they function on the same template. But Thor: Ragnarok manages to waver away from it so smartly that it doesn’t let your interest dwindle even for a bit. As already shown in the trailer, Thor’s hammer is destroyed by Hela like a glass, and now he’s left without his loyal weapon. Of course, he’s going to save the day in the end but how he does it without his trustworthy weapon is what makes for a captivating hero’s journey.

I loved Thor: Ragnarok. Loved, loved, loved it. Loved every glittery moment of it, loved that big, goofy smile permanently plastered on its face, loved every dumb joke it insisted on making, and loved the unabashed sense of joy it left behind. End times might well be headed our way, and as always, we turn to the movies for escape. Thor: Ragnarok is our saviour. Because that’s what a hero does.

Thor: Ragnarok is a superlatively funny film; an element otherwise dissociated with the franchise. There are the tawdry editing hacks towards the climax, coupled with some minor continuity errors. There are the glaring inconsistencies with plot originality, with references to Norse mythology and sequences seemingly plucked out of the world of Game of Thrones and even Harry Potter for that matter. But boy, does the the film work phenomenally well!
