Action Jackson Hindi Movie Reviews

It takes a special kind of talent to make a film as awful as Action Jackson. This film is really an orgy of bloody fight scenes punctuated by too many tuneless songs, and some juvenile gags that might amuse a six-year-old. I'm going with a generous one out of five for Prabhudheva's Action Jackson. It's as much fun as getting your privates stuck in your zipper.

On the whole, Action Jackson is for the masses more than the classes. It will prove to be an average fare at the box-office in only some circuits as it will score in single-screen cinemas and with the masses more than in the multiplexes and with the gentry audience. But in the rest of the circuits, reaching the average mark will be an uphill task.

A Don’s sister falls for his most trusted lieutenant. When he refuses to reciprocate, she vows to destroy him. Her lust and his scorn form the crux of this puerile potboiler. If you're not looking for a mentally stimulating fare, enjoy this ride that is basically meant for the filmi keedas.

Action Jackson might actually spoil the 'good mood' you are in. Action Jackson uses everything in excess - action, romance, comedy, the odd background score and stuff we were used to watching in the 90's! Endure this only if you are a true blue Ajay Devgn fan, otherwise revisit Rowdy Rathore, Prabu Deva's better version of Action Jackson.

From the first scene to the last, Action Jackson is cringe-inducing film that revels in scraping the bottom of the barrel.Action Jackson, a surefire Golden Kela contender, could give Humshakals a run for its money. Give it a miss.

It is an uneven, tacky, cheesy actioner, a film that has much going catastrophically wrong  but it is also -- surprise, surprise -- at times incredibly zany . Action Jackson is a drinking game of a film, one well over the so-bad-it’s-good line, its main merit being that in a sea of superstar-massaging vehicles, it holds some genuine surprises -- and makes sure its hero looks like a jackass. Skip the first half and smuggle in a quart of something bitter, and you’ll be just fine.

Action Jackson has every ingredient his films have -- mindless story, gravity-defying action, cliched dialogues and funny-looking villains. To put it briefly, watch Action Jackson if you are a Prabhudheva or Ajay Devgn fan, because otherwise there isn't a single dialogue you haven't heard and this is one of the films where they say 'Do not take your brains to the theatres'.

ACTION JACKSON being a Bollywood film, the look and feel of the film is that of loud South Indian films. While the film drags in the first half endlessly, the second half too barely has anything in it to hold the audience's attention. The film has no script whatsoever and has been put together haphazardly on the editing table glued together which non-sensical graphics and animation. On the whole, ACTION JACKSON is a highly avoidable affair.

This could have been an entertainingly retro comic-book revenge saga, especially because it has a dashing bad girl who has more screen time, and much more neon-lit presence, than everyone else in the flick . But Prabhu Dheva doesn’t have the skill-sets to instill the that knowing edge into his material; he shows no awareness, in fact, that it is risible.

3 Idiots is a very average bit of fluffy Bollywood masala that tragically pretends, at times, to be making a profound point, one it loses in repetition. The result is a confused film, one that doesn't know exactly where it stands, torn between lump-in-the-throat filmmaking and amateurishly written juvenilia. There are a few moments which click, but coming from the duo that created the finest film this decade, this is a massive letdown. This isn't a bad film, though. By which I mean it conjures up a few moments, it will doubtless make some people cry, and every now and then we glimpse some heart. Yet it hurts to see that this is traditional Bollywood masala schlock, with scenes calculated to tickle and to evoke sympathy. It's not awful at all, but since when did 'not bad' become good? Dr Feelgood doesn't make the cut this time, and we need to measure him by the high bar his previous excellence has set -- by which degree this is a whopper of a disappointment.

  8. ACTION JACKSON:
Torture has a new name! Don’t take the risk! [1/5]

India is a land where superstitions are the most fertile substance, that too without having much substance. Ranging from the black cat crossing your path to someone sneezing at you while you’re making your best move; superstitions don’t demand much but quite a few non-rational minds with blind-faith. Add a new count to the list. If you are a girl tagged as ‘unlucky’ by your friends and have same amount of common sense as Sonakshi flaunts in the film, here is the good news. Seeing someone special [Ajay Devgn in this case] in his undies could get you promotions in your job or you might also win a jackpot at your nearest mega mart. I wish making audience feel the same would have been so easy for Prabhudheva!

Prabhudheva’s latest brainless entertainer ACTION JACKSON is a terribly torturous exercise not only to watch it as a viewer but also to recollect and reconcile it on paper as a film reviewer. Trust me, I could go and copy paragraphs from my earlier reviews of such mindless 100 Cr club entries to paste it here and you would never notice a thing. But then, I am no Prabhudheva myself. There’s nothing called story in this weirdly comic and miserably painful action drama as such; still, I would try my best to make you understand how difficult and excruciating it could get to sit through.

Ajay Devgn plays a good-hearted gunda who can intimidate a school principal for not giving admission to a street-vendor’s son just because the father is an illiterate. So what if while doing such good social work with help of the shining dagger in his hands, he forgets that the kid is there in the frame too, probably having wrong impressions about which career is the most considerable and dependable of the both. Sonakshi plays you know what. She has been playing this role for the nth time now and is still, very far from mastering it. Kunaal Roy Kapoor of ‘DELHI BELLY’ enters the Limca Book of worst Records for making a mark in slap-stick comedies. He gets slapped non-stop in every scene he makes appearance in to bring some smile on your face. Acting is a painful process for many, I guess!

And then; in the midst of so many disappointments, shines and rises the Femina Miss India 2010 Manasvi Mamgain making her debut as the bad girl Marina. She carries her promise at the pageant to empower women in India by playing a tough and determined girl who intrepidly dares the machoman Ajay Devgn in the film with, “Mujhe jo cheej pasand aa jaaye, wo meri ho jaati”. Bravo, for beating all the Gulshan Grovers & Prem Chopras of Bollywood!

Overall, ACTION JACKSON is filled with gravity-defying action sequences, absurdly placed dance numbers, comedy that hardly tickles any bone and a lot of ear-deafening sound effects. The plot gets thicken only at the time of interval when the twist gets unraveled. And it works, especially to make you convinced about not leaving the film in the interval only. Mission successful! You are fooled, again. Like said in the first para, India is a land of superstitions. Blending hysterical hammering action, bizarrely non-sense comedy and rude romance with added star-value would make a complete entertainer, is another myth. Don’t trust. Stay away! [1/5]

  10. This film is exactly like a salman khan film. So it deserves a same treatment like kick. Indian audience is a mentally retarded audience becase of them we dont get to see quality films. Every producer is out to make money. Our films can only compete with srilanka films. Forget abt the world.

  12. Action Jackson is a tacky, cringy, puerile potboiler and is a classic example justifying that when a director tries to put in excess of every element of formulaic filmmaking in a single movie for inducing entertainment, the movie falls flat. If you want to sit and crib and test your patience and tolerance levels then you might wanna watch it. Otherwise it can surely given a miss!
