  1. Way to go Rajeev masand... Really happy to know that I have watched only one of the worst movie from your list (Game).. and watched all the other movies including the list which has I am Kalam etc...
Continue the good work... Rajeev Masand and Bollymoviereviewz.....

  2. rajjev masand is a fantastic and most reliable film criric ... but i am not able to understand why ready ia amongst the worst.i think it was far better than likes of ra.one, body guard etc....

  3. yaar aarkshan itni bhi worst nahi hai..

  4. Aarakshan is worst because it missed prakash jha's social touch like it was in Apaharan and Gangajal.....

  5. i just thought you forgot Ra.1 as one of the worst films ever hindi film industry has seen.

  6. ra.1 is so worst that rajeev did'nt even remenber that he has wathched such a disaster movie..

  7. Ra. One is worst.

Mausam is not that bad, c'mon. It's a nice love story.

  8. how did u miss Ra.1 amongst the 5 worst!!!i think the worst 5 list should be...

  9. Bollywood is seriously the worst film industry in the world. If this is the best they can churn out, its a freaking shame. Coming from someone who watches Hindi, Tamil, Telugu films, Hollywood, Korean Crime films and Japanese/Korean/Thai horror films.

Each and every bollywood film involves either a sickening rip-off of some hollywood movie, or senseless travel to foriegn countries (most 'indian' films are filmed in foriegn locations, ironically) or are outright stupid or worst case, just plain lewd.

Tamil and Telugu films are somewhat better, although Tamil is also descending rapidly into mediocrity (Endhiran was awful).

Why can't India learn from the innovative film makers from Korea, Japan and Thailand? Countries much smaller than us, but infinitely superior in film making. One Korean crime film (such as The Truck, which I watched recently) made with a simple plot and low budget, is a zillion times better than even the most tolerable Bollywood flick (such as Dhoom).

And when it comes to horror, these asian countries are geniuses. Watch movies like Infection, Noroi the Curse, Alone, etc. from these countries to know what true thrillers are. Sad that people in our country have such an abysmal standard as to call movies like Jab We Met as great.

At the very least, stop embarrassing India by promoting bollywood. Most of the western world do not even know that other film industries exist. Even tamil films (in the past) and telugu films may save face better than bollywood...atleast, the south indian film industry do not try to ape the west. Probably why even Bollywood now has started remaking telugu films like Pokiri and Vikramarkudu into Wanted and soon-to-be released Rowdy.

  10. @anonymous: if thinking that bollywood remaking a south indian film into wanted is a compliment. then god help you!!! it is true that the bollywood film industry has declined over the past few years!! but the the films which have bucked the trend such as the ones mr. masand has pointed out have been nothing short of exceptional.. stanley ka dabba has to be one of the best movies i have ever seen!!

  11. Haven't watched stanley ka dabba, but if anyone says movies like 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dubara' and 'Rockstar' as exceptional, then they need to be exposed to the wide open spaces of foriegn language films that leave films like these in the dust. The problem is that the 'best' bollywood films like Rockstar are only mediocre or average when compared to even average films from other countries.

European films are miles ahead of Bollywood. Even the average flicks such as 'I am not scared' (Italian) and 'Evil' (Swedish) which I watched recently are better than the best films in that list. And let's not forget the truly exceptional, such as Pan's Labyrinth (Spanish).

Back in the '90s and early 21st century, I would never compare Bollywood with other film industries because the films made then were true to Indian culture and catered solely for Indian audiences. Classics such as Darr, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Hum Aapke Hai Kaun, Judwa, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kaho Na Pyar Hai, etc. are great films that will never appeal to western audiences, but are enjoyable from an Indian perspective.

Now, all Bollywood does is ape the West, and at the same time, promote sleaze shows. I don't mind sleaze if it can be ignored for good story, but when there is no story, what is the point? Some exceptions are movies like 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi', which have echoes of the '90s in it.

And when you ape the West, either get it right, or quit it. Dhoom 2 for instance, touted as a great entertainer, is a below average flick, if you consider Korean and Japanese thrillers such as 'The Truck', 'Death Note 1 & 2', 'R-Point', which fall in the same category.

Add the talks of underworld connections with Bollywood and it doesn't help.

Lastly, I think Telugu and Tamil films are now way ahead (well, except for Tamil maybe, as I already mentioned) because they haven't changed much. Not because they are better than the foriegn films. But because they don't ape the West and atleast stick to what only Indians will enjoy. 'Wanted' may not have been exceptional to you due to Salman's acting, but both Vijay and Mahesh Babu do a better job in the Tamil and Telugu versions (though even Pokiri is influenced by Donnie Brasco). Point blank, it is okay if one guy beats up a 100 others so long as there is a plot. Its brainless entertainment and doesn't aim for an Oscars entry anyway.

My last post here. Bollywood sucks, and its time they faced it. Out of the big three, Hindi films are atrocious, Tamil films are getting worse as the days go by (no good stories at all) and Telugu is the only industry that seems to still maintain a fairly decent standard.

  12. I think Bollywood movies have lost their standard , And rajeev how couldn't you add bodyguard as one of the worst movie of the year

  13. BODYGUARD was better than RA-ONE......so RA_ONE deserves a place in the worsts list not BODYGUARD........

  14. all salman khan films r worst
    srk is best

  16. bol is not bollywood movie. its a pakistani movie

  17. SRK is the best and i think ra.1 is not one of the worst movies.it is a superb movie

  18. bodyguard, ready, ra one, zindagi na milay gi dobara??????? i dont have the time to list all the worst movies by bollywood, but all above mentioned apart from stanley ka dabba are totally rubbish, i dont understand why people cant judge the acting anymore, for example, ranbeer kapoor won the best actor for rockstar,,, like really???????????? I am shocked and disappointed!!!

  19. bros n sis's, what abt always kabhi kabhi???

  20. I accidently watched Stanley...and believe me its good.Another one on the list which i enjoyed was Delhi Belly. It was different but fun on parts. But Rockstar...OMG...it sucked sucked and sucked(except for A.R.Rehmaan's Music..specially "Tum ho", "Aur ho" and "Phir se Ud chalaa"..They were good numbers...I have mixed comments about "Zindagi...". It had moments, specially Farhaan akhtar...I liked his portrayal but Hrithik sucked big big time...I have banned hin...banned him like I don't watch his movies...Salman Khan sucks...SRK is better than Salman..but in an effort to prove a point he is in all the ridiculous movies...I didn't watc Ra.One, Don-2 was a disaster...Overall we didn't have any good movies in last year except for Stanley and Delhi belly...and well I do trust Rajeev's reviews but c'mon Rockstar on your list...we don't expect that from you...hehehe

  21. Masand,...tell me honestly how many times u sucked SRK'ss....

U took money from SRK to promote RaOne...u gave good rating to the horrible movie

Why is Ra One not in the list....

    Go and Hang Yourself..
