Fright Night Movie Review

Ratings:1.5/5 Reviewer:Rajeev Masand Site:IBNLive
Remake of a popular 1985 hit, Fright Night starring Colin Farrell as a vampire who moves into a residential neighborhood, doesn’t even deliver on the promise of its title. The premise has potential for some genuine thrills, but the lousy script fails spectacularly in mining even a handful of scary moments. The writers misfire badly in their attempt to inject humor into the plot. Fright Night is no Zombieland, and despite the presence of Superbad’s Christopher Mintz-Plasse (as Yelchin’s nerdish childhood pal), the laughs come off as silly and misplaced.I’m going with one-and-a-half out five for Fright Night. It’s a waste of time and money both on the part on those who made, and those who’ll go see it.

Watch out for the vampire talons and fangs that leap out at you.But then we are not complaining about Fright Night. For reasons two: First, is David Tennant who adds colour with his one liners and most importantly self-confidence issues when facing vampires. And second is Colin Farrell as the s**y and charming vampire who chooses blood to romance, has a wicked sense of humour and above all, `loves living a life of more than 400 years'. Are you listening the 17-till-I-die vampire!

Much like the vampire at the centre of it, Fright Night's killings have no beginning, middle or end, while the film dispenses with any explanation, enjoys its blood, and leaves behind a string of corpses and missing teenagers who attract little attention despite the setting being a Las Vegas suburb.
