Aarakshan doesn't boast of the kind of score that has in it to make waves commercially since almost all songs mainly have a situational appeal to them. Yes, at least 'Achha Lagta Hai' is good that prevents Aarakshan from becoming totally forgettable. However despite low expectations from the soundtrack here, the end result is far more being satisfactory.

Music director trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is famous for their foot-tapping fast numbers and heartwarming slow songs, but with Aarakshan the talented composers failed to churn out another blockbuster album. Only one song in the film stands out and offers something worth appreciating. On the whole, the album of Aarakshan doesn't have much to talk about musically.

Aarakshan is a serious film that hopes to adequately tackle the subject of reservation. Given that premise, it’s not surprising to see that the film’s music is also intense.Overall, Aarakshan’s music is mediocre. The only worthwhile listens are Kaun Si Dor... and Saans Albeli.... The others will disappear from your memory as easily as they entered it.What we like Singing in Kaun Si Dor…What we don’t like Pitch-correction and over-refinement in most of the tracks

With six tracks featured on the soundtrack, the music of Aarakshan is enjoyable and easy to listen to, but, with the exception of “Kaun Si Dor” and “Saans Albeli,” is nothing different than has been heard of before in a Bollywood album. Buzzine Bollywood recommends the Aarakshan soundtrack, mostly because “Kaun Si Dor” and “Saans Albeli” are among the best film tunes to come out of Bollywood this year.

In summary, Aarakshan has a brilliant soundtrack with an astounding lyrical quality. Prasoon has an innate ability to write songs of different genre with as much poetic appeal as mass appeal. SEL has given us an array of soundtracks since their debut that affirms that this trio cannot be put in a box. Aacha Lagta Hai, Kaun Si Dor and Roshnee are definitely the winning numbers of the soundtrack. That being said, Mauka is a close runner up. In short, make no reservations. Give Aarakshan a go.

  1. The opening music of the film 'Aarakshan' is a very catchy number. The best songs I liked in this movie are 'Saans Albeli', 'Kaun Si Dor', and 'Mauka'. In fact, in 'Mauka' it is the tune on the wind instruments that sets it apart.
