The Pink Panther 2 isn't all bad, there is pleasure to be had in some of the smarter scenes in the film, especially those between Clousseau and Lily Tomlin's character. Look for that bit in which she tests him by narrating a provocative tale, or the one in which she bickers with him over gaping at a pretty intern - it's moments like this that make this a not entirely unwatchable film.I'm going with two out of five for The Pink Panther 2; it's a retread of old jokes and silly lines, but boy, it feels good to watch one of our own up there in a true-blue Hollywood film!

It must be said that this edition plays a lot smoother than its predecessor and there are a couple of physical gags that utilise fine choreography and dexterous handling of objects to deliver suspense-filled laughs. It might also be possible that the ridiculous idea of an obvious American playing a Frenchman with an impossible accent is not as hard to swallow the second time around. If cheap laughs and over-the-top antics are your thing, this movie is for you. The rest can wait for the DVD to decide whether our latest acting export to Hollywood will be better than the last one.

Barring 2-3 genuinely funny scenes, Pink Panther 2 is nothing but a compilation of juvenile jokes that try too hard to make you laugh but end up as nothing but a display of pure idiocy by the film’s central character Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Steve Martin)

Certain themes worked in the '70s and '80s. But they seem completely out of place in today's times. You can't connect with them, plain and simple. That's the issue with KISSE PYAAR KAROON?.On the whole, KISSE PYAAR KAROON? comes too late in the day. Perhaps, this masala film may've struck a chord a few years ago, not today.

Sitting through a few reels of this film that's supposedly a comedy, you end up with just one query: Why Mr Warsi? Does an actor get some masochistic pleasure in destroying his own talent by dabbling in dismal fare? Doesn't Arshad Warsi know he's got what it takes? If only he'd stop being self-destructive and display some plain common sense while selecting his scripts.Kisse...is a loser from the word go.You have a film that's as enlivening as a headless chicken.Too loud. Too lost. Too ludicrous.

Kisse Pyaar Karoon has some funny scenes, but they are far and few in between and that's exactly what makes the film a painful watch. This is undoubtedly Arshad Warsi's worst performance ever; it's hard to understand what urged an actor with talent in abundance, to sign such films..! To sum up, Kisse Pyaar Karoon is one terrible watch. Don't watch it, even if you're paid to!

Because it's long-winding and often dull, and because it largely fails to marry the storytelling with the special effects, I'm going with two out of five and at best an average rating for director David Fincher's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button; you'll discover it never touches your heart because its missing a heart of its own.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a movie you have to watch at least once, if only to see what all the fuss is about. It is impressive what the filmmakers have managed to commit to celluloid in the name of realizing the fantasy that was first committed to paper as a short story by F Scott Fitzgerald in the 1920s.Watch this one to see how filmmakers can use technology to build far more fantastical worlds than we are used to imagining. Then discuss with your friends how you would have done it differently.

The curious case of Benjamin Button is a moving saga which talks about life, death, relationships and how one can make the most of his life in spite of all the odds. The climax will leave you speechless and the film will haunt you much after you leave the theatre. The film may not be ‘entertaining’ to be precise but keeps you engaged throughout as the characters keep exploring themselves and so does the narrative. This tale of impermanence and emotional pain is a master-piece, a film that will linger in your mind forever for its cinematic and artistic brilliance.

This almost clinical approach to the story kills it so brutally, you begin to wonder just why the movie has received so many Oscar nominations.Brad Pitt does a great job, but the prosthetic guys have done better. Screenplay wise too, the film is a far cry from the original short story. We've seen much better of Brad Pitt than The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Watch this one on DVD, you wouldn't have missed much.

There's a thin line that divides unconventional and experimental cinema. SIDDHARTH - THE PRISONER, directed by debutante Pryas Gupta, has an unconventional plotline, but what comes across is quite abstract. In fact, a film like SIDDHARTH - THE PRISONER is more suited for film festivals, not mainstream commercial platform. On the whole, SIDDHARTH - THE PRISONER is too abstract for Indian moviegoers. A disastrous fate awaits this film at the box-office.

A metaphorical film about freedom and desire, the film keeps you engrossed. Firstly, by its explorations on the leitmotif of greed. And secondly, due to Rajat Kapoor's nuanced, almost minimalist act of a man in torment.

there's a message in this movie that makes sense. But director Pryas Gupta kills much of the suspense and drama in the plot with its lethargic pace, and what might have been a watchable film is ultimately a test of your endurance. I'm going with one out of five for director Pryas Gupta's Siddharth The Prisoner. I could use the obvious pun about the audience being the prisoner here, but let's face it, 90 minutes in prison might probably be less boring in comparison.

The movie opens with a verbatim excerpt from ancient scriptures of Rig Veda that says, “ Make me immortal in that realm, where all wishes and longings go ”. With that onset, Siddharth – The Prisoner attempts to explore the theme of renunciation of desire as the true path to enlightenment and freedom. But with that, perhaps you are also supposed to abandon any desire of cinematic gratification from the film, as it offers none.

What the film wants to show us is Roy is finally free of all his problems after he lets go of all desires... there are Buddha quotes in the film to let you know that. But the film suffers terribly because of quite a few things. While we all know Mumbai gangsters (gangsters from anywhere, actually) use foul language, this movie is peppered with words that are unnecessary and do nothing for the story.

On the whole, DELHI 6 has a terribly boring beginning [first hour], an absorbing middle [second half] and a weak end [climax]. At the box-office, the business is bound to be divided. The film may record bountiful collections at multiplexes in its opening weekend. The popular music as also the fact that there's no major opposition will benefit the film in the initial days. But the business at single screens as also the mass belt will be a shocking contrast. However, the cracks will start appearing sooner than expected, even at plexes. Thumbs down!

The most cherishable quality of this film, which tries to portray the cultural fabric and its tragic-comic resonances in a society trapped between the machinations of religion and politics, is its transparency. Even when Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra makes deep comments on the culture and politics of religion in contemporary India, he keeps his narrative liberated of punctuation marks.

Nostalgic and earnest as it may be, it's hard to qualify Delhi-6 as an actual film.It starts off as a plotless set of well-drawn vignettes, a series of quirky characters doing their own charming thing, which one almost gets used to because of the fine acting on display, until suddenly there is a full-blown national integration message blared at you in the audience, a message so simplistic it doesn't seem like anybody would make an entire motion picture throwing it at you. And yet, here it is.

Most tediously, the movie has far too much of symbolism and underlying messages. Besides the central theme of communal conflict ,there are swipes at superstition, the caste system, rabble-rousing politicians, sensationalist TV anchors.Mehra sure has his heart in the right place. On the whole, BILLU is a sweet-n-simple film that lingers in your memory even after the show has concluded. The final 20 minutes are the highpoint of the enterprise and that elevates the status of the film to great heights. The film has the potential to grow with a strong word of mouth. Recommended... Take your family for this one!

In the end, Billu Barber works smoothly as a simple, moral tale, its charm interrupted every time the director goes for broader, more 'commercial' appeal. But it's enjoyable and heart-felt too, and for that reason deserves to be watched. I'll go with two out of five for director Priyadarshan's Billu Barber, it's an above-average entertainer. And to Shah Rukh Khan, the film's star-producer, here's deep-felt gratitude for giving Irrfan Khan a role to shine in.

Shah Rukh Khan's latest production is a simplistic, well-meaning take on a familiar story, and Billu -- perhaps inadvertently -- ends up being a naive little children's film, the kind of entertainment DD used to hurl at us kids during its Afternoon Transmission.

The film may not have done well in its Tamil version (Kuselan), but Priyadarshan has suitably peppered it with some heart-tugging moments to make it a moving ode to friendship and ordinariness. Of course, Irrfan manages to invest the ordinary with kingly glow, even as Shah Rukh lends the glamour quotient with his filmy naach-gaana.

Though the film has its share of stock characters, maudlin and over-the-top moments and sags in the latter half, there’s also good story-telling, some great acting, and a healthy dose of masala in the item numbers. However, Billu has its disappointments. Lara Dutta is unconvincing with her perfectly tailored blouses and coloured hair . She sticks out especially since the kids are terrific and Irrfan Khan doesn't hit a wrong note, whether it is his body language, dirty fingernails or well-worn rubber chappals.

As it is, The Stoneman Murders is not entirely a waste of time, and it's helped enormously by an inspired performance from Kay Kay Menon. I'll go with two out of five, and a recommendation to catch it at a late evening show with a bucket of popcorn. At an hour and forty minutes in running time, it's a pretty painless watch.

This serial killing story badly needs bailing out. Kay Kay Menon with his strong, wry unsmiling presence brings grit to the feeble drama. Arbaaz Khan as his adversary in the police department has nothing much to do. A couple of supporting performances try to flesh out the shadowy scenario. On the whole the theme of mass murder on Mumbai's streets leaves us cold and unaffected. A bit behind the times. Maybe our movies should just not get into the serial-killing space.

The Stoneman Murders is a fictitious tale based on the real life footpath stoning incidents that made headlines in the early 80s in Mumbai. While the mystery behind the case still remains unsolved, the appeal of the film lies in its smart storytelling that cinematically solves the mystery behind the murders and furthermore explains how the case still remains unsolved in police records and public eye till today. The Stoneman Murders is a modest murder mystery that doesn’t prematurely kill the thrill.

Director Manish Gupta does manage quite a bit of authenticity in his settings and characters and there are moments that work well. But the storyline doesn't always hold up or hold your interest all through — how many bludgeoned faces can you stomach? And the background score, though interesting, is loudly reminiscent of Ram Gopal Varma's Factory films.

Even so, this is a rather radical project, a film that could well have done more but accomplishes far more than enough, and I think the only reason we expect even greater things is that it really, really whets our appetite.Randomness happens often in our newly-experimental cinema, but it's always great to see a film where no detail is an accident, where the director gets to execute his vision exactly as he wants -- and this seems pretty darned close.See Dev D once, get bombed, see it again.

In standing this tale on its head, in the stylistic flourishes and inventiveness that he brings to it, Kashyap has lost some of its emotional underpinning. Perhaps the strongest point of Dev.D is its characterization. The film is as much a story of Chanda and Paro as it is of Dev Singh Dhillon. All the characters are almost equally strong. In fact chances are you might feel more for the women in the story than the self-consummated Dev.The tragic flaw of this protagonist is his ego and an inability to communicate his thoughts and feelings. What makes him extraordinary is the way he burns the candle from both ends and merrily basks in its glow.
